Moms Club of Escondido
This month's all-member meeting started with our first guest speaker, Suzan, a lawyer offering her expertise in family/estate planning. She left a few business cards if anyone who was unable to attend would like one. In attendance were: Alicia, Anna, Brittany, Hannah, Heather, Kathryn, Kelley, Maureen. A few ideas were tossed around for May's mno on 5/24. Would anyone like to host a game night? If so, let me know by 5/13. If not, plan b is a billiards night!
Thanks, Anna, for hosting the June birthdays event. June 4th is our end of year family picnic. We have a secured spot at Lakeview Park Gazebo in San Marcos from 11a-2pm. The group voted today 5:3 in favor of using $52.50 of our funds for the secured spot. This falls under our bylaw allowance of 15% of our funds for parties. Would anyone like to help plan some games for the day? Please let me know.
Kudos to us for reaching 39 members! We finished off the month with 2 new members: Rachel and Sarah. Welcome!

Life’s funny, isn’t it? If you asked me ten years ago where I thought I would be and what experiences I might have, well, I wouldn’t have believed you. I was born in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, but spent most of my adolescence on the gulf side of Florida in Sarasota, where the sand was like flour and lunch break was at the beach. My mom yanked me out of school in the middle of my junior year and moved us up to Cary, North Carolina (Thanks Mom). Needless to say, it was quite a shocker for me especially having gone to a small school with the same kids since 2nd grade. I ended up attending college at North Carolina State University and I left with a degree in Biomedical and Biological Engineering. I would end up going down the medical pathway, which was perfect for our beautiful Sourthern California.
A couple weeks after graduation, my stepmother, Jeana, who I absolutely adore, begged me to make my way across the country to live with them. I made my solo move after some coaxing, but not much considering that the reason she wanted me to move was because she was battling cancer. We spent a beautiful summer together and I fell in even more love with California. Jeana had the most intoxicating smile and extreme fervor for life. She was incredibly fun and one of the strongest people I’ve known. She battled for 7 long years and had two beautiful children in the process, but sadly she passed away in 2008 and I miss her every day (“I love you Jeana!!!”).
I started my career in Sorrento Valley, followed by some time with a breast lift company , where I moved to Santa Rosa for a spell (Never thought I would know so much about ta-tas and even have a patent for a breast lift device). Most recently, I worked for a spinal fusion company. I met my husband Grant there, and we started dating after a couple of years. Now, we have been married for 5 years this September. Prior to our son, Luke, who is 14 months, we spent most of our free time traveling the world; our most favorite thing to do. We’ve spent time in Europe, Australia, Latin America, and Bali, Indonesia. Since Luke, well, it’s seems to be a bit harder to make that happen again, but we often find ourselves skimming the travel sections of book stores for new inspiration.
Luke has been the most wonderful gift of life so far, especially after several years of trying, three miscarriages, and a diagnosis of Fibromyalgia. We would love to have more, but happy if not. Since Luke has been born, I have worked hard to take care of my body and no longer have symptoms of Fibro (woohoo). I’ll have to keep up the hard work, but have found a lot of motivation from my girls in Mom’s Club. Thanks Ladies! We’ve been having a great time and Luke always seems to be smiling after we meet up with all of your lovely kids. We definitely look forward to the fun ahead and watching all the little ones morph before my eyes.
