HUMAN Vol 2 Documentary and Discussion

Where: Round Room, Center for Fine Arts
This event is part of the I-Week celebration
"HUMAN is a collection of stories and images of our world, offering an immersion to the core of what it means to be human. Through these stories full of love and happiness, as well as hatred and violence, HUMAN brings us face to face with the Other, making us reflect on our lives. HUMAN is a politically engaged work which allows us to embrace the human condition and to reflect on the meaning of our existence." -- Director, Yann Arthus-Bertrand
The 90 minute film will be followed with a discussion hosted by members of Gentlemen of Quality, the Multicultural Advisory Council and Tianna Cervantez, Director of the Center for intercultural Life.
Addressing the Stigma of Mental Health in Communities of Color
Time: 7:00-8:00 p.m.
Where: Ferris Lounge
Communities of color are less likely to reach out for help when they are having mental health concerns. Join us to discuss what contributes to this and what you do to help break down the stigma in your community.
Pizza will be provided for participants. Hosted by the Counseling Services and Center for Intercultural Life.
Aaina Project
Aaina is the South Asian Association on campus and we’re looking for volunteers for a project we will be conducting Winter Term 2018. As a cultural club and community, we feel that the narrative of international students and domestic students of colour has been influenced by stereotypes and generalisations. Within the past political year, this narrative has been even more stretched. Aaina wants to use our platform to recognise and represent stories that detach from an Americanised and romanticised narrative. The project is the start of this and we’ll be working to document these experiences. See flyer for addiional details.
