Welcome back and happy new year! This short week really was fantastic -- we had a WONDERFUL start to the second semester! I visited classrooms this week and the effort coming from all classrooms was super strong! We received our data from the Fall 2015 ACPs which has given us both a sign that what we are doing is working and also a sign that we need to make mid-year corrections to ensure that we attain the results that we seek to achieve at the end of the year. The Fall 2015 Campus Climate Survey confirmed that we are the team that has built a school that can make it happen for our kids. Both data checkpoints are available via the buttons below. We have our plans for the next six weeks already made and we're in gear to make huge gains (and have fun doing it!). We're also about to enter the coldest part of the season... so bundle up, buckle up, and let's go!
Here are a couple of reminders for this week:
Fabiola Fernandez sent out the library sign-up link via email this week. In case you forgot, library sign-ups are done virtually via a pretty cool website she uses. I will attach the link in the button below to all future Cowboy Couriers for your convenience.
This Thursday, January 14, is the second night of Elementary Parent Conferences for the year. I know many of you prefer to meet with parents before the actual day of scheduled conferences, but two of your contractual days of the school year are extended for parent conferences. You are welcome to schedule conferences earlier in the week but all teachers are required to be present for parents who choose to come this Thursday from 4:00-7:30. Please be sure to give parents the report card for the 4th six weeks as well as the school's TEA report card for 2014-2015 (last year). For students whose parents do not attend, send the report cards home and ask for a signature as proof they viewed the report card. Keep a copy of report card with the signature and return it home. If possible, please make every effort to reach out to the parent for an in-person conference. Please let us know how we can support you in any way!
The PTSA's Annual Penny Drive begins this Thursday! Please encourage your students to bring in loose change to donate to the school's PTSA. All proceeds support PTSA programs that go directly to our school. Our fantastic PTSA moms will collect all funds before school begins.
This is also a reminder that there is no after school tutoring this week. We are rearranging tutoring rosters using the most recent data so that we are prepared for after school tutoring beginning the week of January 19.
Have an amazing week!
