Weekly Report for November 18, 2022
Tiger Nation:
Our next parent site council meeting will take place on Monday, November 21st from 5-6 pm in the Hub (counseling area). This is a great opportunity to learn more about GHS. All are welcome to attend!
A special thanks to the 44 students and staff members that painted in the parking lot for their International Baccalaureate Day of Service!
The GHS Chess team is traveling to Flagstaff this weekend to compete in the State Individuals Tournament. Good Luck to Jane Reading, Fox Seebach, Weston Cluff, Garrik Martineau and Matt Broyles who is the 2nd highest ranked player in the state! Go Tigers!
Congratulations to Mr. Oldfield and all of his students that worked so hard to put on very successful Market Days this week at GHS!
Why It Is Important To Be At School On Time
Students arriving at school with time to spare have the luxury of settling in, greeting their teachers and classmates, selecting preferred classwork, and focusing their minds on the lessons to come. Students arriving late miss out on this natural transition period, and chronic tardiness may cause students to struggle with academic focus and relationships with peers. Showing up on time to school every day can help students develop the habit of being punctual, illustrates to them your commitment to their learning and friendships, and helps reduce classroom interruptions and distractions for all students. Missing just 15 minutes of school twice a week equates to 3 missed school days per year!
Random tardy sweeps will be implemented in the next few weeks at GHS in an effort to get students to class on time. Please continue to talk to your child about the importance of being on time to each and every class period. Your support is greatly appreciated!
As always, thank you for your ongoing support of Gilbert High School!
