Principal's Message
November 17, 2017
Dear Willink Families,
I am not sure how things are at your house, but there is clearly excitement in the air here! The students realize that there are only a few days left before Thanksgiving and they are ready for a nice vacation with family, food, and friends! I overheard many students talking about the upcoming vacation and all the various plans and traditions they have.
Last week's 8th-grade trips were a huge success. The students who attended the Rochester Tour, as well as the Washington trip, had a great time. If you haven't done so, please check out all the pictures and videos on our webpage and Twitter feed. I noticed that most of our 8th-grade students who went to Washington have caught up on their sleep! I was wondering how many would still be tired on Monday. I know the chaperones were very thankful to have a 3 day weekend to get caught up! I would like to thank all the chaperones for their hard work and dedication in making this such a fantastic experience.
We hosted our annual "Muffins with Moms" this morning and had a great turnout. It was wonderful to see over 100 families enjoying muffins and time together. Check out the pictures on our webpage and Twitter feed.
Our 7th grade activity night is tonight! The event runs from 6-8:30. We will be showing a movie and open gym. If your child has not purchased their ticket yet, there is still time as they will be sold at the door. Please refer to the flyer attached to this newsletter for more details.
Next Tuesday will be a very exciting day here. We are having our first PBIS assembly for the year, Willink Ninja Warrior. These assemblies are a great way to reward students for being Titans that CARE and for being upstanders. We will have one assembly for each grade level and are currently seeking student volunteers to take part in the various activities. There will be an inflatable obstacle course and climbing wall as well as other fun games. Ask your child if they have signed up and if not, please have them get the form outside their house office. Due to the assembly, we are running a shortened schedule. The day will begin with period 1 and homeroom will be later in the day. You can follow all the fun on our webpage or Twitter feed.
Finally, report cards will be available beginning at 4:00 pm today. Please take some time over the next week and have your child talk to you about how they are doing and set some goals for the 2nd quarter. Research shows that when parents and students review academic progress and set goals, student achievement increases. The same applies with the various essential skills such as self-management, perseverance, and time management. As always, we are available to support you and your child reach their goals.
I hope you have a great weekend!
Jim
