Canvas- Start of Year
What needs to be done BEFORE your first day of using Canvas
1- Get Educated About Blueprints
Creating a course and naming it "Blueprint" does not make it a blueprint course.
Once you make a change to content in a temporary course, you break the sync for that piece of content with the blueprint.
Remember, only Blueprints will stick around to use next year.
2- Be sure all temporary courses are associated with the blueprint.
If these are not associated, please email me and let me know! hamptonk@friscoisd.org
3- Cross-List Principles Classes into On-Level Classes
4- Import your LTHS landing page template
The landing page is not optional.
5- Personalize your landing page template (and resources page)
The purpose of the tutorial schedule is to show students where they can get help at different times and should reflect all of the teachers who are willing to tutor students in your subject.
6- PUBLISH YOUR S1 and BLUEPRINT COURSES!
This semester, only publish S1 courses. This ensures that students will only see one card for your course in your dashboard. When we get to Semester 2, we will unpublish S1 and publish S2.
Helpful Hints:
- Encourage students to download the Canvas App. They can also find Canvas through the portal.
- Have students set their notification preferences to make sure they are notified of upcoming due dates and communications
- Encourage parents to work with their child to get a parent account created through the Canvas Parent app. Directions here.
