Second Grade spreads Holiday Cheer
Second graders have been phenomenal school leaders during the month of December! Second grade performed Charlie Brown's Christmas and students sang at the Senior Center delivering cheerfulness to community members. Students also broadened their horizons by studying holiday traditions and customs around the globe. To complete a busy month of holiday success, students decorated gingerbread houses and crafted holiday ornaments.
At the Movies...
Mrs. Laws' first-grade class sported holiday attire as they enjoyed Disney's very own Frozen II. Hometown Cinemas of Marion arranged for two days of viewings for the entire school. Students also received lunch catered by Countryside BBQ. Thank you to both businesses for making the trip possible.
Ornament Making
In preparation for the Christmas season, kindergartners created ornaments for their class tree. The kindergarten teachers hosted "ornament making day" just before Thanksgiving break. Each kindergarten group rotated to each kindergarten teacher to produce the decorations. Therefore, the students in attendance made four different ornaments. A variety of materials were used in these creations, including wood, paint, paper, pictures, muffin cups, buttons, and yarn. Everyone had a great time!
Here Comes Santa Claus...
Santa Shop is an opportunity for students to purchase gifts for family members and friends. With help from teachers and volunteers, students learn valuable lessons on how to budget, select appropriate gifts, make purchases, and handle money. Purchases are even packaged for easy delivery. Santa Shop is so much fun students don't even realize they are learning!
Bright Ideas Grant Funded
Philesia Norris received a Bright Ideas Grant Award from French Broad Electric. With grant funds, Mrs. Norris will update book sets in the library for students and teachers to enjoy!
