January Newsletter

Happy New Year!

Cougar Families,

We are ready to continue our 2021 school year with rigorous learning for all students, 7 Mindsets for social and emotional learning, some changes to our CSS structure and the start of winter sports. We will continue to push our students with high expectations and we need your partnership and support.

When we return, most students will see a change in their schedule. The majority of our electives are on a semester basis with the hopes of exposing our students to as many electives as possible. Please remember, we are unable to accept requests for class changes unless there is a scheduling error. Please have your student check their schedule electronically prior to returning to school. Due to Covid, we will not be able to pass out schedules in the gym.

Exciting News!

Congratulations to our Boys’ Soccer team. Coach Azanger led the team to a first place finish in the league as well as winning the championship game against ALA Gilbert. We are so proud of these young men and the way they represent themselves as student athletes. Great things are happening at Combs Middle School.

The Counseling Corner

Happy New Year from the CMS Counseling Department! There’s no better time to start thinking about the future than the New Year. There are many opportunities during the month of January and February for students to receive information about transitions for the 2021/2022 school year. Please stay tuned for more information regarding our upcoming transitional activities!

Mrs. Baldenegro and students in the Yearbook class have been diligently working to produce this year’s edition of the middle school yearbook. This year’s yearbook is going to be an awesome edition and students always enjoy looking at past yearbooks as a way to remember the experiences that took place during their middle school years.

The cost of the yearbook is $40. Please turn in money (cash/check) to the front office or pay online.

Feel free to contact Mrs. Baldenegro at 480-882-3510 (ext. 4122) if you have any questions about the yearbook.

Athletic Updates

Congratulations to our boys’ soccer team for winning the 2020-2021 championship!

Unfortunately, the girls’ volleyball season was cut short. With limited games, they made tremendous improvements that led them to compete and win matches. With all the difficulties that this school year has brought, it is great to see our student-athletes come together and represent Combs Middle School the way they did.

Girls basketball tryouts will begin Tuesday, January 5th. Tryouts will start at 4:15 and run until 5:45. Please make sure you have your physical completed and you turn in the sports packet to the front office. If we do not have these two forms, you will not be able to participate.

If you have any questions please contact Mr. Clark.

Thank you!
