Glen Lake News for Staff
April 20 - 24, 2020
The video below was created by some Glen Lake Grizzlies for all of you!
We Miss You Glen Lake!
"Apollo 13ing this thing!"
I never thought that Apollo 13 would become a verb, but it did during a conversation I had this past week. When I heard it, I reflected on how it applies to our current state. The first picture captures our launch of Distance Learning 2 weeks ago. Prior the launch, there were countless hours put in for planning and preparation that helped build the ship. The 2nd picture captures the ongoing adjustments, tweaks, collaboration, and fixes that occur once in flight (never mind that the pic is of all white males....argh!). During this time, we are receiving information from our families, colleagues, supervisors, and departments and trying to improve as we go. This takes vulnerability, an open-mind, and creative problem-solving. The answers are within us. We can't look up the answer in a book or in "the google." We will continue to do the best we can to constantly meet the needs of our students and families. The last picture is the safe landing. Our landing will come, and we will succeed in our monumental efforts to deliver this educational experience. We will have so much to be proud of, to celebrate, and to appreciate. I believe this end goal helps keep us going during times of fatigue and frustration. Take care of yourselves Glen Lake!
Administrative Professionals Appreciate Week
This week is Administrative Professionals Appreciate Week! Connie, Bitz, Barb, and Jenni do much for our school each and every day. Without them, our school simply would not function. Thanks for all that you do!
Teachers - staffing
Teachers, as we continue on with staffing throughout the district, please let me know if you have a desire to teach at a different grade level within Glen Lake. Example, hypothetical: "If a position ever opened up at 1st grade, I would definitely be interested." Interest doesn't guarantee a position, but as positions are filled, a domino effect occurs. It's helpful for me to know individual who have any interest in specific areas.
Marc Bjorklund has informed me that he does not plan on returning to his position. We will miss Marc greatly, and thank him for the many years he dedicated to Hopkins and Glen Lake.
Currently, our openings for next year are:
6th grade - 1.0
6th grade - .5
4th grade - 1.0
Optional Q and A sessions
We will continue to come together 3 times a week to share, ask, and connect.
Monday at 1:00 pm
Wednesday at 1:00 pm
Friday at 9:30 am
Working from Home Safety tips!
As we continue to work in our home environment, it is important to keep in mind these safety tips.
