Dear Vista Springs Families

Rounding out our month of gratitude, here is a big shout out to Ms. Allison and the teachers and students who participated in our first ever Virtual Science Fair! Students shared some wonderful ideas and experiments and it was clear that everyone put a lot of effort into their projects. It is so encouraging to see that this distance learning situation has not extinguished students’ curiosity and enthusiasm for learning! If anything, the virtual environment helped shared their accomplishments with an even broader audience than if we were on site. Well done all!

Here are this week’s updates:

• Informational Webinars for Current and Prospective Parents

• Join me and some of our school staff at a live informational webinar to discuss plans for next year, your concerns as well as sharing your experience with other current or new parents to our community! The first 20 minutes will be geared towards orientation for prospective families and the main portion will be information and planning for our program next year. We hope to see you soon-- and please pass this on to any friends who might be interested in our school too!

• 8th grade and Kinder Promotion- We will be doing a live zoom promotion presentation on June 11th, and a drive through celebration for students to get their promotion certificates afterwards -- so save the date! We will send out the link the week before.

• June 11th, 11 am Livestream Promotion Event

• June 11th, 12:30 pm Drive through promotion certificate presentation

• Families with promoted students will be sent a separate email with more specific directions and guidelines to ensure health and safety

• End of year processes

• June 8th and 10th, 10:30-12:30 --Families who are not returning to Vista Springs in the Fall must turn in their students’ school materials, including chromebooks, on Monday and Wednesday, June 8th and 10th, between 10:30-12:30 (Families will have to pay for the chromebook if it is not returned)

• Mastery based report cards will be sent home the week of June 15th. Students will get a report card whether they participated in distance learning or not. Grades will be based on either the last known mastery on March 13th or whatever level of performance the student has reached by the end of the semester, whichever is greater. No student can receive a grade lower than the last grade earned prior to Coronavirus shelter in place order on March 13, 2020.

Estimadas familias de Vista Springs

Para completar nuestro mes de gratitud, ¡aquí hay un gran agradecimiento para la Sra. Allison y los maestros y estudiantes que participaron en nuestra primera Feria Virtual de Ciencias! Los estudiantes compartieron algunas ideas y experimentos maravillosos y quedó claro que todos pusieron mucho esfuerzo en sus proyectos. ¡Es muy alentador ver que esta situación de aprendizaje a distancia no ha extinguido la curiosidad y el entusiasmo de los estudiantes por aprender! En todo caso, el entorno virtual ayudó a compartir sus logros con un público aún más amplio que si estuviéramos en el sitio. ¡Bien hecho todo!

• Promoción de 8º grado y Kinder- Haremos una presentación de promoción de zoom en vivo el 11 de junio, y una celebración en auto para que los estudiantes obtengan sus certificados de promoción después, ¡así que guarden la fecha! Enviaremos el enlace una semana antes.

• 11 de junio, 11 am Evento de promoción de transmisión en vivo

• 11 de junio, 12:30 p.m. Conduzca a través de la presentación del certificado de promoción

• Las familias con estudiantes promovidos recibirán un correo electrónico por separado con instrucciones y pautas más específicas para garantizar la salud y la seguridad.

• Procesos de fin de año

• 8 y 10 de junio, 10: 30-12: 30 - Las familias que no regresan a Vista Springs en el otoño deben entregar los materiales escolares de sus estudiantes, incluido la laptop o Chromebook que se le dio a cada uno, los lunes y miércoles, 8 y 10 de junio, entre las 10: 30-12: 30 (las familias deberán pagar la Chromebook si no se devuelve)
