CIVIL RIGHTS JOURNEY 2019

January 5 - 13, 2019
This week-long journey through Alabama, Mississippi and Tennessee will provide first-hand account of the remnants of slavery, Jim Crow and the Civil Rights Movement and how these historical events shape mass incarceration. The group will travel to Birmingham, Selma, and Montgomery, Ala., and Memphis, Tenn., to visit historical sites, meet with activists, historians and scholars.
Participants will serve as Nazareth's ambassadors; they will develop skills that will empower them to be active leaders/ambassadors in the areas of diversity and inclusion. Participation in pre-departure preparation meetings are required; these will occur on the following Sundays from 1:00 to 3:00: 10/21, 11/4, 11/18 and 12/9. The out of pocket cost per Nazareth student is $350.00 This covers all flights, land transportation, hotels, most meals and entrance fees.
