December Edition 2021
Principal's Corner
This time of the year tends to be one in which we can reflect on all that we should be thankful for. Although we have experienced some not so good, we still have some blessings in our lives. This is certainly the case for me, and one of the biggest blessings I have received this year is the opportunity to serve our Sussex Central Elementary School community as principal. Thank you for your support, your openness to change, and your trust that we are working to ensure a prosperous future for our school. I am also blessed to have an amazing faculty and staff that is supportive of my leadership along with my assistant principal.
During the winter break, I encourage you to continue reflecting on your blessings and practice safety protocols. Please enjoy the winter break with your family and friends and I look forward to seeing you bright and early on Monday, January 3, 2022.

Holidays Around the World
Mrs. Arro's Kindergarten Class
Ms. Arro's Kindergarten class is shown here learning about "Pasko" (Christmas) in her country, the Philippines.
Students learned that they make their own colorful “Parol”(Christmas Lantern). Ms. Arro's class was super excited to color one! They danced as she played a Filipino Christmas Carol, “Ang Pasko ay Sumapit."
Students also learned Kwanzaa, Hannukah, Diwali, and Los Posadas. Thank you, Ms. Arro for bringing a sense of culture into your classroom that the students enjoyed!
Mrs. Torres' Second Grade Class
Mrs. Torres' students also participated in joining her traditions from the Philippines. Another student is shown displaying "Parols" (Christmas lanterns) by adding doubles. Great job, Mrs. Torres for sharing your traditions and tying them into your instructional delivery!
