A Word From Mrs. Loor
I hope you are all enjoying your Memorial Day weekend and this beautiful weather! Although it is wonderful to have the day off, let us remember to take a moment to honor all military personnel who have died while serving our country. As we all know, freedom is not free.
Our fourth and fifth grade concerts were impressive! I am awed by the progress they have made since their winter concert performances. All of their hard work has paid off! We honored Mrs. Manhardt, our orchestra director, at the end of the fifth grade concert for her many years of service. We wish her all the best in her retirement. We will truly miss her.
Thank you to the PTO for the awesome World of Rock assembly! Mr. Socks and his band were a ton of fun. We learned about all about different rock band instruments, rifts, chords and famous rock bands.
We have many fun filled activities for the coming week. Our 4th grade will be going on their field trip to Liberty Science Center on Tuesday. Please make sure you have read any emails from your teachers about the trip. The 5th graders will be enjoying a day at the pool for the DARE Pool Party on Wednesday and the Blacktop Party on Friday. The whole school will enjoy the Teachers vs Students Volleyball game as well!
Have a fantastic week!
With Warmest Regards,
Mrs. Loor

Kindness Crew
Our final Kindness Crew drive is to help fund our Read to the Dogs program and support the local vets who take care of the animals in our neighborhoods. We are running a Pennies for Puppies (or Dollar for Dogs, if you are so inclined) with all funds going to The Seeing Eye in Morristown. In addition, we are collecting old towels, sheets, and bedding that will be donated to the Union Animal Hospital to provide comfort to animals in their care. This collection will run from Monday, May 22 - Friday, June 2.
Books Due THIS Friday
ALL BOOKS ARE DUE TO THE LIBRARY by Friday, June 2. If your student has overdue books, you will receive an email notification and then a paper notice. If the book is lost, please purchase a replacement from your preferred book vendor.
Summer Reading Program
Ms. Aymer of Summit Public Library will be visiting all classes on Monday, June 5th to introduce the All Together Now! summer reading program. If you can, I hope you will encourage your young readers to take part in their program!

Reminders
- As a reminder: to ensure that we include everyone and accurately provide class placement for all students, we ask that you notify Mrs. Napoles in writing, if you do not plan to return to Franklin in September. Please let us know by June 14th.
- As a public service announcement, please be mindful of where you are parking at dismissal. The Summit Police have been issuing summons to those parked illegally. You cannot park on either side of Blackburn Road between Blackburn Place and Warwick Road and behind the crosswalk on Blackburn Road and Blackburn Place. Thank you for your cooperation.
- We are outside every day for recess weather permitting and we utilize all of our fields as much as possible. Please remember as per board policy 7490, animals are not allowed on school property without prior notice and permission. It also includes arrival and dismissal. This is for the safety and security for all of our students. It would also be amazing if you could pass the word along for all pet owners who live in the area to please clean up after their animals.
- The playground is solely for school use from 8am-3pm. I understand that you may be arriving at school earlier for dismissal, but the playground equipment is not available to the public until after school is over.
- If your child will not be in school, please email or call Mrs. Napoles.
- Children should not be bringing toys, Pokemon cards, etc to school unless it is for a specific school-related activity such as a special share day.
- Any forgotten items that need to be dropped off must be labeled with the child's name and teacher's name and left on the table in the security vestibule past the front entrance.
