Don't Forget to Thank a Teacher!

Teachers shape our lives!

  • Everyone can think of at least one teacher who pushed us to be our best selves, inspired us, or showed us a new way of thinking. Where would we be without them?

They work really hard!

  • No one works harder than teachers. One study indicates that the average workweek for teachers is 53 hours! They spend a great amount of time creating lesson plans, grading material, and coming up with fun extras to make classroom time more engaging.

They are heroes!

  • They provide comfort, familiarity and support to the well-being of the whole of each student - academically, physically and emotionally.

Teachers, you are valued and we thank you!

Free School Meals Expiring June 2022

A waiver from the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) has enabled schools across the nation, including Fargo Public Schools, to provide all students free meals since the COVID-19 pandemic first disrupted K – 12 education in March of 2020. The free school meal benefits will expire after the last school day of the 2021 – 2022 school year.

What does this mean for families? In the fall of 2022, meals will return to paid-for status. Families will need to pay full price for student meals or fill out an application to qualify for free or reduced price meals. Applications for the 2022-2023 school year will be available starting July 1, 2022. Applications will be available on the Nutrition Services Department website after that date and will be shared at the start of the 2022-23 school year with families.

Title 1 and Fargo Public Schools Culture & Climate Survey's - Your Assistance Requested

Title 1 Parent Survey

McKinley Elementary is a School-wide Title 1 building where ALL of our students benefit from direct Title 1 intervention and/or resources that support them in reaching their goals. Your child/ren have a larger ‘team’ that is monitoring their progress throughout the year where interventions and extensions can be put into place as needed. We value your feedback each year on your child/ren’s growth and also the experiences that they had during the year. Please complete the following short survey to help us reflect on the 2021-2022 school year and then plan for next year. If your child/ren haven’t worked directly with a Title 1 teacher in math or reading please mark NA for those questions in this section.

Thanks for your input.

Big picture

Virtual Academy 2022-2023

Recently, Fargo Public Schools made the decision to continue its Virtual Academy for the 2022-2023 school year. For planning purposes, we need to gather information regarding interest for next year.

Elementary (grades K-5): The elementary model will stay the same through the North Dakota Center for Distance Education (NDCDE).

Secondary (grades 6-12): Secondary students will utilize a program called Edgenuity for core classes. This program, currently used at the high schools for credit recovery coursework, provides greater flexibility to meet students’ academic needs. In addition, secondary students will have the opportunity to meet via Zoom with an FPS instructor at scheduled times throughout the day. Elective courses will be offered through NDCDE at the secondary level.

Please complete the survey linked below to indicate your interest in attending the Fargo Public Schools Virtual Academy for the 2022-2023 school year:
