Lovette Elementary School
I hope you had a great summer! I am very excited to begin this school year with you and your child. For this year, our school-wide character word will be EMPATHY. It is important that we work on our skill of having empathy towards the people around us. It makes us a better person and understand how other people feel. I don't know about you, but I feel a lot better when I take the time to understand someone else's point of view.
Every morning before we begin our school tasks, we will have a classroom meeting. We will discuss how we are feeling and talk about things that are bothering us. This time allows us to get to know each other and help each other so that our new day runs smoother.
Let's talk about your choices
When you make a not-so-nice choice, we will discuss why you made that choice. I will do my best to help you figure out why you feel the way you do and what we can do to make you feel better. Keep in mind that we do still have to learn and complete school tasks. There will be a cozy spot for you that will have pictures of your family, a blanket, and a comfortable seat if you need a minute to gather your thoughts and feelings. When you are ready, we can talk about it.
