Ripon Cathedral School Update
Week ending Friday 17th November 2017
Who can you spot?
Supporting Pudsey and Children in Need
From magnificent ties to polka dot uniforms, it was spots as far as the eye could see in school today! Thank you to all parents and carers for supporting Children in Need by helping your children to accessorise their uniform and for sending in donations.
Our Year 6 charity group filled the lunch break with exciting activities including penalty shoot out, a disco and Pudsey themed colouring. They spent the afternoon counting coins, and our grand total to send to Children in Need is £240.50. Well done everyone!
you are invited to our autumn exhibition
Going back in time
Thursday saw Year 3 and Year 4 in different time zones to the rest of us. Year 3 were back in the Victorian workhouse and Year 4 became Romans for the day at Murton Park.
And a visitor from the past for Year 6!
What would it be like if you couldn't see?
Oscar's Christmas Presents
Miss Dumbreck, our Oscar's club supervisor, is doing a fantastic job with her team, and their latest project was putting together shoe boxes of gifts for service personnel who will not be at home for Christmas.
Can we also remind you that the Breakfast Club is now open from 8am and not 8.15am . After reviewing the first few weeks of Oscar's and in response to requests from some parents we have decided to open Oscar's earlier at no extra cost to our families.
Children do not return to school after the Christmas break until January 8th, after most working parents have had to return to work. To support families Oscar's will be open from 3rd -5th January. Make sure you book your places in advance.

On the red carpet
Naomi reports ..
'On Thursday I went to an awards ceremony in York. I had volunteered to raise money for charity so throughout my summer I did a vintage afternoon tea, radio show for old people, bingo, and a dance. When we went to the awards ceremony there were five different categories and I entered the 'Dream Come True' challenge with my brother, sister and two friends. I felt so tense and when I had heard what the other teams had done, i didn't think we had a chance. When they announced, 'The Northern Ninjas' I was overjoyed. I had never seen Owen, my brother, so happy in his life. We went up on to the stage and were presented with .. a certificate, a five day adventure holiday and tickets to Energi trampoline park in York. The teams who were second got two tickets to Energi.
'I've got to say that was one of the best days of my life!'
And we have to say, we are immensely proud of the generous spirit of Naomi and her team, who gave up much of their summer holiday to make others happier. Well done indeed.

Helpers
Can anyone offer an hour or more to help over the next 3 weeks to get things ready? We need people to help fill jars and label them, label tombola prizes, wrap lucky dip items and presents. Some of these jobs can be done in the comfort of your own home so please do speak to a member of the Friends Committee if you can offer a bit of time either in school or at home – Thank you!

We are running games, stalls and even a Santa’s grotto during the fair after school on the 7th December – can anyone help run a stall? We also need helpers on the day to help decorate Santa’s Grotto and set up tables ready before the fair starts.
