A Letter from Mr. Hershey

Dear Shiloh Point Families,

We have had a very successful and smooth month back to school since the holiday break and am very proud of our staff and students for the continuous hard work and commitment to their learning.

Often as a parent myself, I sometimes get scared that our kids are growing up too fast. There is knowledge available to our students at their fingertips with the use of a simple device that we as parents never had when we were growing up. In the next few years, experts are predicting that education will continue to change because of the availability of technology and endless resources that gives students opportunities to learn at a faster pace, but are they ready due to their age level and maturity?

During our January faculty meeting, our staff talked about the importance of engaging students in their learning so that they have ownership in what they are learning, allowing students to investigate and learn through their passions and interests, engaging students with mastery-based learning, and continue to focus on the social/emotional aspect of learning. We will continue to work on these four areas as we believe that they are critical to not only student achievement, but long term success of the whole child that align to the Forsyth County Schools Learner Profile.

Thank you for all of your help as we partner together to support your child's growth. As always, please do not hesitate to reach out should you need anything. We are here to serve you and your children.

How are you using the 7 Mindsets at home? We believe that if we are able to partner as a home, community, and school, we have the best chance of supporting your child into the person that you want him/her to grow into.

If you have a story that you would like to share on how you are using The 7 Mindsets at home, we would love to hear from you. Please contact Mr. Hershey at

Thank you to all of our families for participating in BINGO. We had a lot of fun and continue to build community. If you were unable to participate, we encourage you to join us during these types of events. We know that Shiloh Point is a large school, but these events are ways that we can connect and continue to make Shiloh feel like a small community. Don't miss out on the fun during all of our future community events!!! A huge thank you to all of our PTA and staff volunteers for supporting this event.

Attendance Information

Please send all correspondence regarding absences/late check in/check out directly to Mrs. Tuttle. and copy your child’s teacher on it. This ensures that the front office is not getting classroom information, homework, etc along with the attendance issue.

Car Rider Procedures

Thank you to all of you who are following our car rider procedures as outlined in my last newsletter. Please continue to follow these as it helps us make the line as efficient as possible to get the 500 + vehicles through our line each day.

  1. To ensure a timely arrival at school, we strongly encourage students to ride the bus.
  2. While in the car line limit distractions, including the cell phone.
  3. Guide your child in gathering belongings as you enter the school property.
  4. Kiss and hug good-bye prior to rounding the last curve in the parking lot driveway.
  5. Once your car comes to a complete stop, encourage your child to quickly exit on the right side only.
  6. Under no circumstances should an adult get out of the car while in car line. If you need to assist your child in exiting the car, please pull into the parking lot, park, unload, and walk your child to the front door.

Thank you in advance for your cooperation. We greatly appreciate your assistance and support!
