The Eagle Flyer
Summer Edition~August 1, 2023
A Message from Mrs. Fantaskey
Dear Doyle Families,
I hope our Soaring Eagles are enjoying a great summer and finding time to make fun memories with family and friends. The office and facilities staff members have been busy working hard to make sure our school is ready to open its doors to our students on Tuesday, September 5, 2023. Our Team Doyle family is so excited and eager to work closely with our students, staff, and parents this coming school year.
Our Eagle Flyer is our main form of communication with our school community and is typically sent on Mondays. Anything you need to know in regard to events and information at Doyle Elementary is shared in our Eagle Flyer.
Please see below for a few highlights and reminders for our school community.
Free & Reduced Lunch Applications
Eligible families are strongly encouraged to apply for Free & Reduced lunch status. The information in this newsletter will help walk you through the process. Often times there are resources available to school, such as Title I funding that is based on the school's enrollment in these programs. If you believe you may be eligible and have not completed the application, please do so as soon as possible.
Student Information Update for 2023-2024
Please be sure to update the Student Information Section on the parent portal. This must be completed each year for ALL students. Updating this emergency form ensures that we can contact you and that you will receive emails and important communications from the school and district. Please update as soon as you can! Thank you for your attention to this.
The parent portal will open on August 3rd after 4 PM to log on and see teacher assignments for the 2023-2024 school year. This is an exciting time for our students, teachers, and families as the children learn who their teacher will be for the upcoming school year. Our class placement process took place over the course of several weeks at the end of the school year. Please be assured that considerable time and attention went into creating well-balanced class groupings that considered the social, academic, and emotional needs of our students. We ask all parents to respect the amount of hard work and thought that the principal, school counselor, reading specialists, classroom teachers, and special education teachers put into this process and not request changes to your child’s placement. All of our teachers are caring, capable, and highly qualified educators, and our job as adults is to support students and to help them develop confidence and a positive outlook as they begin the new school year. Thank you for your understanding, trust, and support.

In addition, as part of the evening tours, our Doyle Home & School Association will provide "Popsicles on the Playground" for parents and students. Remembering Joey Malcolm
As many remember, Joey would light up a room with his infectious smile, adventurous spirit, and big heart. He always wanted to make people laugh and brought a lot of joy to all of those around him. While our hearts are broken, we are certainly filled with gratitude for this amazing Doyle community. The Malcolm family is very appreciative of the ongoing support of our community.
Supporting Reed Pratt's Road to Recovery
Reed Pratt, a former Soaring Eagle and rising 7th grader, was recently diagnosed with stage 2a, nodular lymphocyte predominant Hodgkin's Lymphoma (NLPHL.) Reed is a wonderful student, who has been a great friend, teammate, and dedicated athlete. There are various ways to show support for Reed and his family as he battles this disease on his road to recovery. Please see below for details.
Reed's Road to Recovery
A website through Give in Kind to donate Wawa gift cards for gas, Door Dash, or PA Turnpike gift cards. This will help with costs of travel to appointments at CHOP and meals. Follow the link to the donation site.
3 v 3 for Reed Basketball Tournament
There is a 3 v 3 Basketball Tournament scheduled for 8/18/23 at CB West for students in grades 5 to 10. Please see the link below to register.
