Verb and Noun Phrases

Verb Phrases

A verb phrase is the part of a sentence that follows or goes with the verb. A few examples are "The bird landed on the tree," in this sentence the verb phrase would be "landed on the tree." Another example would be "My friend ran to school." in this sentence the verb phrase is "ran to school". The last example is in the sentence "I went to sea world today", the verb phrase is "went to sea world today".

Noun Phrases

A noun phrase is the part of the sentence following or surrounding the noun or subject. Some examples are "My lunch box is blue." in this sentence the noun phrase is "my lunchbox". Another example is the sentence "The flea market was crowded" the noun phrase is "the flea market". Lastly, another example is "the bookshelf was overflowing", in this sentence the noun phrase is "the bookshelf."
