WELCOME BACK FAMILIES & STUDENTS!!
It is with great anticipation and excitement that I welcome you all back and say a special "welcome" to all of our new students and families joining our district for the first time! The 2018 - 2019 school year will be another awesome school year within the Clarenceville School District family!
It has been a very busy summer as we work to improve and get ready to welcome everyone back for the 2018-19 school year. Summer projects have been in full swing since June. Thanks to the school community supporting a renewal of our Sinking Fund (can only be used for building and site improvements) the following summer projects are currently taking place.
- The high school will have a new secure entryway along with a renovated administrative office.
- The middle school will have a new and expanded parking lot/student drop-off area that will improve student and teacher safety.
- Shaw Stadium and McDowell Field are being renovated in all phases including:
- a new entryway with ticket booth
- renovated concession stand with pavilion
- JV & Varsity locker rooms, coaches' office & trainer's room all renovated
- new scoreboard
- new turf field replacing the grass field
- new storage building
- resurfacing of the track
- updated stadium restrooms
The summer has also been very busy on the Human Resource front as we have hired many (22) new staff who we are happy to have join our team. Each building's website will be updated with a new staff list as soon as possible We are introducing a Junior Kindergarten program at the elementary level that will be housed at Botsford Elementary. The high school curriculum will see the addition of two Computer Science classes this year for the first time.
For generations, the Clarenceville School District has been the educational home to students across our community, state, and country. As your superintendent I am thrilled to be a part of a school district where traditions are held in high regard, and where keeping current in new researched based best practices in teaching and learning are valued. The Clarenceville School District focuses on developing the "whole child" in order to help all students find success; academically, co-curricularly, and social - emotionally. The whole child approach to educating our students is our highest priority. Our approach to teaching the whole child is found in our focus on character education, citizenship, communication, critical thinking & problem solving, collaboration and developing creativity and imagination.
We are able to work to develop the whole child through our belief in our Principles of Effective Instruction which are centered around these areas in our classrooms:
- Building Learning Communities
- Creating a Learner - Centered classrooms
- Our teachers have a Deep Understanding of what to teach and how to teach it
- Using Assessment to better understand what our learners understand and are able to do
- Utilizing Feedback to help our learners reflect through dialogue between learners
Our continuous improvement efforts are critical to our learners on all levels to ensure a high quality education is maintained in our school district. As professional educators we take our service to our learners seriously. We will apply our knowledge and skills to help every learner be successful; we will hold ourselves as professionals to the highest principals of conduct; and we will advocate for changes that improve our learners' ability to be successful. That is why we are here!
On behalf of the Clarenceville School District, please accept my thanks for your trust in us and for your support of our schools and for the opportunity to serve, lead, and work with you as your superintendent.
Respectfully,
Paul K. Shepich
