News From Pier 25
May 13, 2016
Dear UMAC Parents,
Next Friday, students will give a presentation to our class from the first person point of view (acting as if they are the American hero). In the afternoon, all students will participate in the history walk and briefly teach parents about their hero.
Please make sure you briefly talk about a costume or prop your child can use during their presentation and the history walk. Also, please ask your child to practice their speech a few times at home using their notecards! :)
Recycling & Patrol Breakfast
The recycle and patrol breakfast is Monday, 5/16. Mrs. Barrett and Mrs. Juliano will be bringing members of these two clubs to Colonial Cafe for a celebration breakfast. Buses will leave promptly at 7:25am!
State Science Test
Just when we thought all the testing was over... We found out there will be one more science test for 5th grade students. Please see the information below given to us from the district and our administration.
In compliance with Illinois testing requirements, we will be administering a science assessment to fifth grade students between May 9 and May 27. The assessment will be administered in an online format and is aligned to the Illinois Learning Standards for Science incorporating the Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS), which were adopted in 2014. The test time allotted is approximately one hour and will consist of 18 questions on the fifth grade test. You can read more about the Illinois Science Test at http://www.isbe.net/assessm
ent/isa.htm.Our old friends will take the assessment on Tuesday, May 24.
