New Beginnings Class Newsletter
For the Week of 12/11-12/15
What We Worked On
Read Aloud- We read the stories "It's Christmas David!," "Duck and Goose It's Christmastime," and "Santa's Stuck." We played games such as guess what item is in the stocking and sorting bows. We made some Christmas crafts.
Skills- We reviewed the letter "H" and the number "*". We worked on the color yellow and the shape square. We continued to work on our IEP goals and Mrs. D has begun some assessments to see where we are before going on vacation.
What Can I Do?
We always worry about regression with a long break coming up, so please continue to try to help your child maintain their skills. You can have them identify letters when they see them around the house, have them help you count to 10 for tasks such as combing their hair or setting the table. Please continue to put your child on the toilet or potty and use a fork or spoon for all meals. We've been really focusing on "no hands". All of our students now drink from a straw so please have them continue to practice that at home as well.

Closings and Delays
If your home district closes or delays, your child will also have a snow day or delay. Please contact First Student to determine when the bus will arrive for pick up.
If Gouverneur dismisses early, your child will also be dismissed early. I will again let you know through Remind.
If your home district dismisses early, but Gouverneur does not, your child will remain in school until 2:30. You are welcome to come and pick your child up though.
Dressing for the Weather
It can also be on the cooler side in our classroom so you might want to send in an extra sweatshirt for your child to keep here.
Sickness
Thank you for all that you do to help us keep your child happy and well! We appreciate it so much!
