Mrs. Bearden's Weekly Update
August 8, 2022
Dear Eagle Canyon Families,
Welcome to the first week of the 2022-23 school year! We are excited to get the race started as staff and students race to success together at Eagle Canyon.
Thank you to all of you who attended our first Meet your Teacher since our last one in 2019. Our teachers and PTA made it a wonderful event.
BELL SCHEDULE
This year, CVUSD schools have adjusted the school schedules to align with Senate Bill 328. Please see the linked Bell Schedule for the new arrival and dismissal times.
The students will be able to go to the amphitheater beginning at 7:20 a.m.
Eagle Canyon Student Handbook
Many of your questions can be answered by checking our Eagle Canyon Student Handbook. It is always located on our school website and it is linked below. Topics are listed in alphabetical order, so if you need information about attendance, you can find attendance information located in section A.
NEW STAFF MEMBERS
Eagle Canyon has four new staff members this year. We are excited for you to meet them.
- Ms. Le comes to us from Wickman Elementary and is joining the first-grade team along with Ms. Mejia who was hired last year.
- Ms. Erickson is joining the third-grade team.
- Ms. De Gennaro is joining the fifth-grade team.
- Ms. Lanham has joined our team as the new Speech and Language Pathologist.
My mentor Mr. Mackessy, a retired CVUSD principal, offered to serve as our substitute assistant principal until our new assistant principal is board approved. We are all thankful to have his help.
CAMPUS UPDATES
Eagle Canyon will begin the modernization process this year. Contractors are already on campus preparing to move portables on the field. In addition, the campus will have some roofing work completed. As a result, there will be more traffic around campus than normal. Please be patient as the school district works with the contractors to update our campus.
Thank you for your continued support,
Mrs. Bearden

5th and 6th Grade Parents
Mrs. Gire has arranged for the choir to sing at the Christmas Tree lighting at the Shoppes in November. She will also work with Mr. Beltran to set up concerts with the band students.
Permission slips will go home with interested students on Monday. Please share this information with your child.
BACK TO SCHOOL TRAFFIC
BUS GATE
We have a new procedure at the Bus Gate to ensure students are not crossing in front of cars to get to their parents. Teachers will only release students out of the Bus Gate when parents are pulled up to the curb or walk with their children. Student safety is our top priority before and after school.
PARKING LOT
Students are not allowed to walk in the parking lot without an adult. Please do not ask them to walk to your car. You must accompany them to ensure their safety.
CROSSWALKS
Be sure to use crosswalks in the parking lot and on Eagle Canyon Drive. Teachers and staff will be on duty beginning at 7:40 a.m. to monitor crosswalks and stop traffic when needed.
CABANAS
A best practice to keep traffic moving is to ensure your child has all their belongings when you pull up to the cabanas. Please avoid having items in the trunk or back of the vehicle. As a safety measure, students should not have to walk in front of another car to get out of the car, get in the car, or get their belongings. Students can only exit/enter the car next to the curb.
COURTESY
The first couple of weeks is always more hectic in the parking lot. Please be courteous to your Eagle Canyon family. We all want everyone to remain safe while we work together to get over 600 students to and from school.
Thank you!

Support Eagle Canyon
A popular fundraising opportunity all families can support is Box Tops. Download the Box Top app on your phone. All you have to do is scan your receipts on the Box Top app within 14 days of the purchase. The app will let you know if any of the purchased items qualify to earn 10 cents per product. If there are not any items, you will still have an opportunity to enter sweepstakes to win 500 bonus Box Tops. Every receipt has the potential to earn our school money.
As of today, our school has earned $7.40 this year. Our goal is to earn $1,000.00. If you also get the coupons, please turn them in to the school office. Thank you in advance for your support!
