The Padilla Post 10/3/2022

Providing every student with the keys to open the doors of their future.

A Message from Principal Purfurst

Tuesday is going to be a very important day at Padilla! It's picture day, prize day for the Fun Run, and we have extra special treat for ALL students - the chance to pie a teacher in the face! We hope to see all students at school on Tuesday!

An Update from Dean Hawkins

Safety Information:

We have no scheduled drills this week. Please let us know if you have any questions or concerns about any of the safety drills we practice at Padilla!

Parking Lot Reminders:

Thank you for your help with the use of our crosswalks in front of and behind the bus lanes. We appreciate you avoiding walking through the buses in order to pick up your students.

If you are dropping students off in the morning through the “Hug and Go” lane, we need you to pull forward as far as you can before you let your student out of your vehicle. Please stay in the hug and go lane when dropping off your student, if possible please have your student exit the passenger side of your vehicle and please stay in your car as this helps keep vehicles moving in an orderly fashion.

Preschool parents: Please note that our Kindergarten families need the horseshoe drop off for their students as doors open for all K-5 students at 7:30. Preschool parents, please park in the lot instead of the horseshoe if you are waiting to drop your preschooler off at 7:50. This allows all of our kindergarten parents the opportunity to drop their students off and also relieves the congestion now and what we expect when the weather becomes cooler. Thank you for your help with this!

Community Survey: If you haven’t had an opportunity to share with us your thoughts about how we can involve our Padilla Community more, we encourage you to take some time to fill out our very quick survey. Survey Link Here

Donuts with Parents:

Our inaugural “Donuts with Parents” session will occur this Wednesday, October 5th. This session will include our 5th grade teachers and is open to any community member (we are hoping to keep this to the adult community members) that would like to get to know our wonderful fifth grade teachers and other Padilla community members better in a more relaxed setting. We will be meeting in the library from 7:30-7:50 during our soft start. Parents are more than welcome to stay longer but teachers will be leaving to return to their classrooms at 7:50. Students will be in class and will not be joining us during this time. We will continue these Donut Sessions monthly with our fourth grade teachers meeting our community members in November.

Guardians on Guard:

Through our community survey, we are aware of the desire for our community to be involved more in an everyday setting! With that, we would like to invite all that are interested to help ensure the safety of our students before school, after school or during lunch recess. We are always looking for more adult supervision during these unstructured times in our daily schedule and would welcome anyone that has time to help! If you are interested in volunteering your time at any point during the school day for Guardians on Guard, please reach out to Josh Hawkins at your convenience!

Bear Ticket Drawing Winners!

Each month, classes earn "Bear Tickets." These are earned with all of the students in a class are showing our CHILL Keys at the same time. At the end of the month, all of the Bear Tickets earned that month are entered into a drawing and one class is selected. The class that wins earns a pizza party and gets to keep Snowball the Polar Bear in their classroom for the month!

September's Bear Ticket drawing winner was Mrs. Lovekamp's 1st Grade class! They will get a pizza party on Tuesday!
