Prince Ibraham Express
November 2021
PRINCIPALS MESSAGE/ MENSAJE DE LA DIRECTORA
Dear Eagles,
October was an outstanding month here at Prince Ibraham. The students have settled into their routines and lots of learning is occurring.
First Quarter Report Cards will be sent home on Tuesday, November 2nd.
Teachers will be holding parent conferences, so look for information to come from your teacher on how to schedule the conference. This is the best way for you to learn where your child is academically.
As always, I would like to Thank You for your Dedication and Support of Prince Ibraham. I would like to wish each of you a Happy Thanksgiving Season.
Angie Choplin, Principal
Angie Choplin, Directora

COUNSELORS CORNER/ ESQUINA DE LA CONSEJERA
Gratitude is a feeling of appreciation or thanks but, increasingly, research demonstrates its value as a practice—that is, making conscious efforts to count one’s blessings. Studies show that cultivating gratitude improves physical and psychological health, enhances empathy, and reduces aggression, improves self-esteem, increases mental strength, improves sleep, and opens the door to more relationships. Gratitude lends itself to expanding our worldview. The emotion generates a climate of positivity that reaches inward and extends outward. When we are thankful for even the small things, we are thinking of more than just ourselves; we are thinking about how all of us have the ability to positively impact another’s life. Gratitude is powerful! (Psychology Today, 2015)
Here are some ways to practice gratitude:
Take the Gratitude Challenge! Share the statement “I am grateful for
__________________ because ______________.” Write it on a slip of paper (younger children draw a picture) and add it to a family gratitude jar. Add to it & review it spontaneously or regularly, as fits your family.
- Keep a journal of or in some way note big and little joys of daily life.
- Write down "three good things"—identify three things that have gone well for you and identify the cause.
- Write thank-you notes to show appreciation.
- Engage in "mental subtraction." Imagine what your life would be like if some positive event had not occurred.
- Extend a hand by volunteering to help others
Happy Birthday! ¡Feliz cumpleaños!
