Culver ES Student Council ~ 4th & 5th Grade Students ~
Dear 4th & 5th Grade Culver Cheetah Parents,
Your child has shown an interest in an officer position for Culver Elementary Student Council.
Please note the election guidelines listed below. All interested candidates will be required to follow election guidelines. Please also note necessary qualifications for holding an office and a description regarding the responsibilities of each officer position included in this packet. If your child is not elected to an office, he/she will still be able to participate in Student Council as a representative. Students must attend all meetings which will be held the first and third Friday of the month beginning at 7 am, unless otherwise noted. There is a dues fee of $10.00 which will cover the student council T-shirt as well as the activity fund.
ELECTION GUIDELINES:
*Students are responsible for meeting time deadlines.
*Students will give a speech to the other 4th & 5th grade students on our campus. Speeches should be no longer than 3 minutes, be written out and turned into Mrs. Lewis, Ms. Wood or Mrs. Pina for approval by the deadline date. In the speech, students should introduce themselves and tell why they will be the best person for the position.
*One poster may be displayed in the designated area of the school. Your poster may ONLY be ONE ½ size poster board (NO FOAM poster boards). Teachers will be responsible for hanging student posters in the hallway. Any inappropriate material on the poster will result in the poster not being displayed. Be sure to include your first and last name and office you’re running for. No lights are allowed on the posters for safety reasons.
*There will be no “giveaways” (i.e. – food/candy, stickers, fliers, etc.).
*Students are not allowed to campaign through digital media (i.e. – Facebook, Twitter, Snapchat, etc.).
*When the election is over, posters will be removed from the school by the following Monday and sent home.
*Students will behave responsibly in respect to other nominated candidates.
*Elections will be by private ballot.
VIOLATIONS TO THE ELECTION GUIDELINES WILL RESULT IN CANDIDATE DISQUALIFICATIONS.
We wish your student the best of luck and look forward to working with the Student Council.
Thank you,
Mrs. Lewis, Ms. Wood, Mr. Martin and Mrs. Pina
