Yakshagana: depicting Indian epics through song, dance and dialogue. Yakshagana is a musical theater art form popular in coastal regions of Karnataka. Yakshagana consists of himmela (background music group) and mummela (dance and dialogue group in color costumes). A performance usually depicts a story from Indian epic poems and the puranas. Yaksha Manjusha is a troupe based in Mangalore enrolled in ICCR and has performed in 19 states in India.
