Mid-Continent Pop-Up Library
This year we will partner with Mid-Continent Library of Riverside to bring our students Pop-Up Library! Each month, Stacey Powell, from Mid-Continent Public Library will bring award-nominated books, along with a host of other new and exciting ones for students to check out during the school day at Line Creek. We don’t carry enough copies of Mark Twain Award Nominees for the number of students who want to read them, so Mid-Continent helps supply extra copies.
If 3rd, 4th, or 5th grade students have library cards to Mid-Continent, he or she may check out 1 book each month during the Pop-Up Library. To return the book, students may bring it to the Line Creek library or drop it at any Mid-Continent branch.
Students received a form to participate.
Our first Pop-Up Library day was this past Thursday, September 13th from 1-3pm. From now on, we will return books every 2nd Thursday of each month. Only students with Mid-Continent cards may check out from the popup library. Students do not need to have their cards with them, but it is helpful.
PTA Membership Drive
We are eager to include all families in decision-making about our school. One way to support our school, and be involved is by joining the PTA. This year, there will be a membership drive from September 4th - September 28th. The two classes with the most PTA members will receive a pizza party in October!
Our amazing PTA does so much for our school including: sponsoring all classroom field trips, coordinating room parties, facilitating One School One Book, donating a rock wall for our gym, donating money to sponsor live morning broadcasts starting this year, and supporting classrooms and teachers daily! Print this membership form then send the completed form and membership dues to school with your child. Printed membership forms were also sent home with your child or can be picked-up in the office. Join PTA!
Student Identification Badges
If your child has lost his or her badge, a new badge request must come from a parent. Please call (816) 359-4320 or email Jennifer or Christy to request a new badge for your child.

Redistricting Update
In preparation for the opening of Hopewell Elementary and Walden Middle School for the 2019-2020 school year, and in order to balance our very different high school enrollments, we will be redistricting all of our attendance boundaries, from elementary through high school. Redistricting will help us continue to be one of the best districts around by protecting our low class sizes and making sure we can balance our resources.
The redistricting committee meetings will be open to the public, if you want to observe them. We will also host public input meetings and provide an online feedback tool to get your thoughts on the committee's ideas before the Board sets the new attendance areas. The Board plans to make its decision in December.
September 10th Update
At the redistricting committee's September 10th meeting, Dr. Paul Kelly, assistant superintendent for business and technology, showed the committee the different scenarios they drew up at the last meeting for the boundary between the Park Hill and Park Hill South high school attendance areas.
Dr. Mike Kimbrel, executive director of quality and evaluation, took the committee through a scoring exercise to see how well the different scenarios each met the criteria set by the Board of Education.

Line Creek Elementary Communication
You will find several ways to stay up to date on school activities throughout the year on the Line Creek website, Facebook, Twitter and newsletters from your child’s teacher. You will also occasionally get an automated email or voicemail message sent to you by the school with important information and reminders. We know two-way communication is best, so please feel free to call, email, or stop by the school with any questions you may have regarding your child’s education.
