March 3 Institute Day
March 2 PTA Sponsored Glow Dance
The Jackson PTA is hosting a schoolwide Glow Dance at Jackson this Thursday, March 2, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Students must have a purchased ticket AND school ID in order to attend the dance. Entry and exit will take place through door #4. Students should be picked up from Jackson promptly at 8:00 p.m. Walking home will not be allowed. Drop-off and pickup for the dance will take place via the plaza drive.
As always, students must be in good standing with school behavior to attend the dance. Students sent to the office for a behavior incident could be at risk of losing the privilege of attending the dance. This decision would be made by the Jackson administration.
5Essentials Parent Survey
From January 24 to March 31, parents and guardians are invited to complete the 5Essentials survey to help us better understand the conditions at your child’s school and guide improvement. Identities and survey responses will be kept completely confidential and will never be connected to a parent or child. The state will provide survey results for individual schools only if a school has at least 20 percent of parents take the survey. If a parent has children attending more than one school, please complete a survey for each school. Visit the 5Essentials website to take the survey.

Attendance
A friendly reminder that it is the responsibility of a parent/guardian to contact Jackson in the event his/her child will be absent from school. Please plan to report your child’s absence, prior to 9:00 a.m., by calling our attendance line at (630) 516-7368. Parents/guardians will leave a voicemail reporting their child’s absence. In the voicemail, please include the following information:
Child’s name and grade level
Date of absence
Reason for absence
Student absenteeism should be kept to the minimum; however, the School Board recognizes that some absences are unavoidable. The following are valid causes for a student's absence and will be considered “excused,” as specified in Section 26-2a of the Illinois School Code:
Illness
Observation of a religious holiday
Death in the immediate family
Family emergency
Other situations approved by the school principal
