BORN JUST AFTER CORSICA SUCCUMBED TO THE FRENCH FORCES, NAPOLEON SPEND HIS CHILDHOOD HATING THE FRENCH. HE WAS QUOTED AS SAYING :" CRIES OF THE DYING, GROANS OF THE OPPRESSED AND TEARS OF DESPAIR SURROUNDED MY CRADLE, FROM THE HOUR OF MY BIRTH!" NAPOLEON HELD A CRUTCH AGAINST HIS FATHER, WHO HAD EMBRACED THE FRENCH CULTURE. HOWEVER HE WAS FASCINATED WITH HIS MOTHER AND HE CREDITED HER WITH HIS SUCCESS LATER IN LIFE.
NAPOLEON'S FATHER HAD SECURED A MILTITARY SCHOLARSHIP AT THE ROYAL MILITARY COLLEGE AT BRYAN LA CHATO IN NORTHERN FRANCE . THE 9 YEAR OLD NAPOLEON HARDLY SPOKE ANY FRENCH AND SPEND THE NEXT 5 YEARS IN WHAT HE THOUGHT OF AS EXCILE. AT THE AGE OF 15 , NAPOLEON WAS PROMOTED TO THE ACADEMY IN PARIS AND WAS SUDDENLY SURROUNDED BY THE OPPULANCE OF NOBILITY. ONE OF HIS TEACHERS, REFERRED TO HIM AS QUITE, SOLITARY, FRIGHTFULLY EGOSTITICAL, PROUD, AMBITIOUS, ASPIRING TO EVERYTHING. "HE WOULD GO FAR" HIS SCHOOL REPORT READ,"IN FAVORABLE CIRCUMSTANCES". BONAPARTE STARTED HIS TRAINING AS A SOLDIER AT 16, AS A SECOND LEUTANENT,BUT THIS WAS THE BEGINNING OF ONE OF THE GREATEST MILITARY CAREERS IN HISTORY.

NAPOLEON WAS NOT ABLE TO MOVE UP IN RANK BECAUSE OF HIS SOCIAL STATUS, HE CAME FROM MINOR NOBILITY ( POOR PEOPLE ). BUT ALL OF THIS WOULD CHANGE WITH A MINOR, LITTLE THING CALLED THE FRENCH REVOLUTION!!!

SUDDENLY NAPOLELON WAS SET FREE, HE APPRECIATED THE CHANGES THE REVOLUTION WAS BRINGING TO THE COUNTRY. AT 20 YEARS OLD NAPOLEON'S DESTINY AND THAT OF FRANCE APPEARED TO BE THE SAME.

AT 23 NAPOLEON RETURNS TO CORSICA AND DREAMS OF COMING TO POWER NEXT TO HIS CHILDHOOD HERO, PASQUALE PAOLI. BUT HE WOULD BE BITTERLY DISSAPOINTED, PAOLI DID NOT TRUST HIM AND CALLED HIM " A BIG INEXPERIENCED BOY", WHO WAS TO SYMPATHETIC TO FRANCE. NAPOLEON IS NOW PERFECTLY COMFORTABLE WITH CORSICA BEING A PART OF REVOLUTINARY FRANCE. BEFORE LONG PAOLI AND NAPOLEON BECAME BITTER ENEMIES. THE CORSICAN ASSEMBLY DECLARED NAPOLEON AND HIS ENTIRE FAMILY, ENEMIES AND TRAITORS OF THE FATHERLAND. NAPOLEON WAS NO LONGER ALLOWED TO LIVE IN CORSICA AND WAS GIVEN THE DEATH SENTENCE BY HIS OWN PEOPLE.

IT'S IMPORTANT TO UNDERSTAND THE CHILDHOOD AND EARLY YEARS OF NAPOLEON BONAPARTE, THE STRUGGLES HE FACED AS A YOUNG MAN EXPLAIN HOW AND WHY HE WAS SO DRIVEN TO RISE TO POWER. AT ONLY 35 YEARS OLD HE DECLARED HIMSELF EMPEROR AND RULED A NATION FOR 11 YEARS . A NATION THAT WAS ALMOST CONSTANTLY IN A STATE OF WAR......QUITE A FEAT FOR A MAN OF ONLY MINOR NOBILITY, NOT HAVING BEEN BORN INTO ROYALTY, BUT A PRODUCT OF POOR PEOPLE !
