The Friday Flyer
From Boone Meadow Elementary School
From the Eagles' Nest:
Dear Boone Meadow Families,
As you can see in the photo below, we are rollin' toward the end of the year with numerous experiences and celebrations. On Wednesday, we had a successful "Bike to School Day" as Mother Nature showed some grace during this rainy spring.
It's an exciting time to reflect on the growth and learning of our students as we prepare for the upcoming year. We never stop thinking about our next steps, so please help us plan ahead by taking note of the following items:
1. Registration for 2017-2018. - Each family should have received an email earlier in the week with information regarding registration for the next school year. This necessary information helps us consider staffing needs and enrollment influences. Please complete at your earliest convenience.
2. Family Input Survey - Your reflection improves our work. Please consider sharing your insights. (Link is located below)
3. Celebrations - Each grade level has special events and celebrations planned in the weeks ahead. Be sure to mark those calendars.
I must take a moment to thank Troy Bauer & the rest of our PTO. These incredible group of stakeholders served our community so faithfully. Many of you know that Troy led well for 4 years as the Boone Meadow PTO President, and he laid a firm foundation for this team of mighty volunteers. He modeled a spirit of generosity and kindness through his servant-leadership approach. We will miss Troy and all of our outgoing board members. However, we know that great things are in store with our new, as well as, returning members. Thank you for your dedication to this beautiful and diverse community.
Have a great weekend,

Family Input Survey
We are beginning to make plans for the upcoming 2017-2018 school year. Although we are unable to say with certainty how many sections of classes we will have in each grade level, it is safe to assume that we will continue to grow!
Part of our growing process is to reflect. At this time of year, we seek your reflections and consider your insight. Please share your thoughts with us by downloading the attached “Family Input Survey” and return to the school by Monday, May 15th.
Please return the survey in a sealed envelope to the BME office, or send an electronic copy to email@example.com.

State law stipulates that the medical records of children on file at school show the required immunizations have been completed by the 20th day of the school year. That day is September 5, 2017. Information regarding immunizations requirements for 2017-2018 can be found here.
Parents of children whose immunizations are not up-to-date should contact their health care provider or the Boone County Health Department to schedule an appointment for the necessary immunizations. Some pharmacies also carry the necessary vaccines.
If parents object to immunizations, a written objection must be on file in the school office by September 5, 2017. This must be updated yearly. Children who do not have up to date vaccination records by that date will not be allowed to return to school until the proper immunization information is on file. Students who have appointments with their health care provider after Sept. 5th 2017, must present proof of the scheduled appointment in order to remain in school.
Medication Pick up in the Health Clinic
We are asking for your assistance in picking up any medication that your child currently may have in the health care clinic by May 26, 2017. The clinic is open on school days from 8:00-4:00.
For the safety of our students, all medication must be transported to and from school by an parent/guardian. Any medication that is left in the clinic will be discarded by St. Vincent health professionals.
Please contact Amy Deinlein in the clinic with any questions or concerns.

ZIONSVILLE SHOW CHOIRS TO PRESENT ANNUAL “FINALE” May 12 & 13, 2017
Zionsville Community High School’s two show choir ensembles, the Royalaires and Choralaires, will present three performances of “Finale” on May 12 & 13 at the Performing Arts Center. Performances are scheduled for 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday evening, and 2:00 on Saturday afternoon.
The popular, annual event is a compilation of the body of work performed over the course of the academic year, and has sold out for the last two years. The Saturday matinee, which is new this year, will be a shorter, modified program, ideal for young families and others who prefer a shorter show. The evening programs will feature solo and small ensemble performances by members of the show choirs, as well as their award winning competition shows.
Tickets go on sale April 17th. Ticket prices are $17.50 for the evening performances and $12.50 for the abbreviated matinee. Purchase tickets at www.zchoirs.com. Proceeds from the event support the show choirs. Group sales are available for the matinee performance by calling 317-733-4833.

Hiring Guest Teachers!
Zionsville Community School is hiring Guest Teachers! Quality guest teachers are an important asset to our schools and require special attributes to enhance our students’ learning process. The best guest teachers demonstrate the desire to work well with children ages 3-18, relate well to all students, inspire a love of learning and have a good sense of humor. In addition, they must be flexible, dedicated, patient, kind, fair and consistent.
Guest teachers can manage the days of the week they are available to work through an automated system called Aesop. This user-friendly system is accessible online or through a touch-tone phone which allows ZCS teachers to enter absences and guest teachers to select available jobs.
If you meet the above requirements and would like to start the application process.
After your employment application has been submitted, please send an email to our Sub Coordinator at Subcoordinator@zcs.k12.in.us confirming that you would like to be considered for a guest teacher position at Zionsville Community Schools.
Boone County has shifted from NIXLE to SMART911. This is a free service that allows you to receive emergency notifications from the county which may include severe weather warnings and traffic alerts. The program will ask for optional personal information that could be used in the event of an emergency situation in your home. Boone County citizens are encouraged to create their Safety Profile with Smart911 today. To create a safety profile and sign up for updates, go to www.smart911.com
School Visitor Check-Ins at ZCS
Please be aware that we use a visitor management system known as SafeVisitor. SafeVisitor is a 30-45 second check-in process that cross references against all national sex offender registries and prints a visitor badge. Please be prepared to scan a government issued ID (Driver License) when arriving to campus as a visitor or volunteer. The printed badge should be visible at all times while in the building. Thank you!
Please note: Full background checks are still required field trips. Full background checks cost $15.95 and take at least 7-10 days to process. Limited background checks are still required for lunch visits, volunteering in a supervised area, etc.
All volunteers in our district are also required to complete the bullying module, consisting of a short video and a digital signature as proof of watching the video. This video must be watched for either level of volunteer (Full or Limited). Please click here to visit the BRAVO/Volunteers page where all of these items can be completed.
