TVAAS/TCAP/Evaluations
Bailey Station maintained a 5 in all areas of growth in the School Composite. All of you last year chose Literacy and Numeracy and you will have a 5 in that growth category.
Achievement
We do not as of yet have the achievement scores in TNCompass. Since we do not have these scores we do not know your Level of Effectiveness (LOE) in order to know the track that you will be placed on for this evaluation cycle.
Evaluations
If you are a tested teacher in 3rd or 5th grade you can go into TNCompass and will be able to see your Individual Growth Score (both single year and multiple year) and if you have a 5 for your Individual Growth Score (single year) you may use that score no matter what the other scores may be. Those who are tested teachers in 4th grade will not have a growth score because there is not a 3rd grade score from last year and the year before that (2015) was a 2nd grade score which cannot be used. If you are in 5th grade you were able to get a growth score from comparison to 3rd grades scores from 2015 school year and 3rd grade was able to get a growth score because they use the data from 2nd grade which has scores from 2015 to use for comparison. If you do not have a clue what I just wrote then come by and see me and I will try and explain this to you!
If you go into TNCompass to look make sure to click on "View All Evaluations" and then click on 2016-2017 and your last year's information will come up. For most of you, we do not have a clear LOE until our achievement scores are put in.
I will be in touch with new teachers and teachers that had an individual growth score of 5 that are tested to get started on the evaluation process. If you are a new teacher we will start with an informal observation by your learning coach and then I will set a pre-conference 10 days after you informal observation and then will schedule an announced evaluation. If you are a level 5 tested teacher (individual growth single year) we will start with your walkthrough and then an unannounced evaluation. Hopefully, soon we will have scores for everyone and I will send out the evaluation calendar!
Sheryl Johnson will be coming out October 5th to help us with 2018 Growth/Achievement process as well as answer any evaluation questions you may have.
My Learning Plan - Approved Absences - Please Read
We have to follow the protocol that Collierville Schools has set up in the area of approved absences. As soon as you know that you are to attend something that will require you to be absent from your teaching duties then you have to put it in MLP to be approved 3 weeks before the absence is to occur. We are having issues with getting this information into MLP on time so that you can be paid. The following information was just shared with us from Collierville Schools: If you are placing an absence in MLP it will NOT be approved if it is the day prior to the absence or the absence as already occurred, that means it will be an unpaid absence. I know that there have been times that you are called to go somewhere and it is not within the 3-week window. My suggestion would be to get in writing from the person asking you to go somewhere during the school day that it is outside of the 3-week window explaining that this was last minute and that you will get paid. You may not realize but when teachers do not put the information into MLP during the 3 week window it impacts a chain of events that have to occur that involves the department that is sending you or you are working with, our financial secretaries that have to have the approved absence to prove why you are still getting paid for being absent and lastly the finance department that has to have all this information in place on time in order for everyone to get paid on time.
TNReady Results Update
Audience: Directors of Schools
Contact: TNED.Assessment@tn.gov
As you know, fall EOC score reports (examples here and here) are available in Nextera/ServicePoint. We will share additional information about spring EOC reports later this week.
Individual student reports for EOCs (example here), also known as family reports, are being mailed to districts on a rolling basis over the course of this month. As a reminder, results from grades 3–8 assessments are available on a later timeline this year because of the extended scoring process required for any new assessment. On Aug. 25, the State Board of Education approved cut scores for grades 3-8, which were informed by the standard setting process completed by Tennessee educators this summer. Educator reports and student reports for grades 3–8 will be available in October. In future years, grades 3–8 teachers will receive these reports earlier.
TVAAS Data Release and Public Announcement
Audience: Directors of Schools
Contact: TEAM.Questions@tn.gov (accessing data on TNCompass) orTNED.Accountability@tn.gov (accessing data on accountability application)
As of last Friday, directors have access to TVAAS evaluation composites and subject-level data at the teacher, school, and district levels on the accountability application. We anticipate teachers will have direct access to their TVAAS evaluation composites in TNCompass by this Friday, Sept. 15 at midnight. Teachers’ levels of overall effectiveness (LOE) should automatically populate in TNCompass at that time. As a reminder, because TNReady was not administered to students in grades 3–8 in 2015-16, we are unable to generate individual TVAAS for fourth-grade teachers this year.
Next week, on Tuesday, Sept. 19, the department will release TVAAS district- and school-level results publicly, and districts are welcome to share their results at any time before or on that date. Teacher-level results may never be released publicly.
Keep in mind that we use a multiple measure system for teacher evaluation, and the General Assembly passed legislation that provides evaluation flexibility during the assessment transition. You can learn more about this flexibility here. Upon release, educators should contact TVAAS User Support with specific questions about understanding or interpret their TVAAS data.
Apple Teacher Program
Apple Teacher Program
Audience – Certificated Staff - Optional
Contact Person – School ITF
The Apple Teacher program is a free, self-paced, professional learning program designed
by Apple to support educators using Apple products in the classroom for both Mac and
iPad, as well as Swift Playgrounds (coding). Once completed, educators will be awarded
with certification as an Apple Teacher. Collierville Schools would also like to recognize
and celebrate staff who attain this certification showing their commitment to our district’s
Digital Learning Initiative.
- We will begin this district-wide program in the fall of 2017.
- Educators will complete the Apple Teacher program.
- Sign up to get started here https://appleteacher.apple.com/auth/#/signin/
- Educators who have already received or just receive the Apple Teacher certification
will notify the Technology Department here https://forms.office.com/Pages/ResponsePage.aspx?id=1M13qvNWYUC29AO54DnBZMWWOLF5RdxDmvTLkoGhg0BUNjhFUTNKODRMSTUzR0lJRVA4Tk4xWEIwTC4u
- Educators are also encouraged to include the Apple Teacher certification in their
email signature (following Apple guidelines) and post the logo on their school
website.
- The school Instructional Technology Facilitator (ITF) will then post badges to
teachers’ classrooms/offices.
Schools may also choose to celebrate these educators as well through a bulletin
board or daily announcement.
The Technology department will track and share results of each schools’ percentage
of educators with Apple Teacher certification. We hope that a little friendly
competition will spur our staff to grow professionally with the goal of student
learning in mind.

TNCompass - Evaluations for this year
TNCompass/Evaluation Administrator
S. Johnson -s1johnson@colliervilleschools.org)
Audience: Teachers, Administrators, District Staff (Certified)
To ensure that TNCompass( https://tdoe.tncompass.org/Account/Login?ReturnUrl=%2f) holds the most accurate contact information, all school, and certified district staff should review their accounts and update their username/email address to reflect their official district email address. This is especially important for educators coming to Collierville from other Tennessee districts. To do this, select “Account Information” from the home page upon login and click the “Change Username/Email” link under account settings. Please note that this change must be made in the account information section and cannot be made in the “Educator Profile.” Please do NOT be concerned if your school/district assignment within TNCompass is incorrect, as we are in the process of updating all school rosters. At this time, you simply need to review and update your account information as instructed above. With TNCompass questions relating specifically to Collierville Schools, please contact Sheryl Johnson (s1johnson@colliervilleschools.org). Anyone with technical questions should reach out to support@tncompass.org.
