Maker Space - Materials Needed

We have lots of students using our maker space before, during, and after school. Students are learning a variety of skills that will serve them well in their education and careers. They learn to collaborate with one another to solve problems and develop creative ideas. They learn how research for ideas and information to bring their projects to life. We also have students learning how to build simple mechanical creations using K'Nex and other resources.

Many of the items we stock in the maker space are consumable, and students get to keep what they make. We are in need of many items to keep our maker space up and running for our students.

We are in need of:

  • Patterned Duct Tape
  • Rainbow loom rubber bands of all colors
  • Yarn for knitting or crocheting
  • Crochet hooks
  • Knitting needles
  • Crochet/Knitting books
  • Board Games (like Monopoly, Clue, Sorry, Racko, Skip-Bo, Guess Who, Ker-Punk, Pass the Pig, Yatzee!)
  • K'Nex sets
  • Lego sets

If you are willing and able, we would appreciate your donations to our maker space. Students can bring donations to the media center at Pearson anytime.

Here is video of one project our students are working on.

iPads and Winter Break

The media center is the hub of technology in our school, and kids flock here for all sorts of needs. We notice that after weekends students often have more technology needs. Students download unapproved apps. IPads are disabled by someone that doesn't know the passcode. IPads are broken.

Please remember that these are school-owned devices and should be treated like a learning tool. To keep the iPad working properly, we recommend that students keep their iPads in a safe place to avoid these issues.

Our students created a video about some of the things to remember. You can watch it and also share it with your child if you would like to have a conversation about this at home.
