Hearing and Vision
Hearing and Vision Screening will take place January 3rd and 4th for all students in kindergarten (if not previously screened upon entry in FCPS Pre-K), 1st grade and any newly entered student to the Maryland public school system. Maryland State Law mandates this screening. Parents/guardians who have an objection to this screening based on the tenets and/or practice of their church or religion must submit a request for their child to be exempt from screening. All written requests must be submitted to the health room by January 2nd. Please make sure if your child wears glasses or contacts that they have them on the screening days. If you have any questions please contact the health room at 240-566-0110
Reminders about social media accounts
I know you were focused on the break and may have missed the December 21, 2018 deadline for creating social media accounts that do not mix personal items with FCPS (including CES and our stars in your posts)
If you have a social media account and you post personal and professional items in that account you must create an account that is school based and only FCPS posts may be made in that account. All other information can be posted to your private/personal account. All requests must be sent to me for approval. The permission page is listed below.
Naming Conventions for Instructional and Organizational Social Media Accounts:
All accounts created on behalf of Frederick County Public Schools should contain ‘FCPS’ and be followed with your name or the name of your division, department, title, etc.
For example: @FCPS_BRESPrincipal, @ArtsAcademyFCPS, @TStreet_FCPSComm, FCPS_FoodService, tstreet_fcpsTeach. Following these naming conventions supports Frederick County Public Schools branding and helps users when searching for our pages and accounts.
Supporting the Brand
If you create a social media site on behalf of the Frederick County Public Schools, use simple graphics that reflect the FCPS brand. Our logos are located on the Shared K:Drive/FCPSLogos.
You are not required to use the FCPS logo, but please use artwork and/or images that complement Frederick County Public Schools.

FCPS Policy on Tutoring
315 Tutoring/Educational Services Offered by FCPS Staff
A staff member may provide valuable assistance to a student who is having difficulty with schoolwork; however, such additional tutoring or educational services should only be considered after other avenues of assistance have been explored.
In recognizing the potential conflict of interest that may be created when a parent and current staff members contract for services to serve his or her child beyond the school day, the following policy statements shall govern:
A. Staff members shall not provide tutoring or educational services for private gain in school buildings.
B. Staff members shall not use the facilities or equipment of the school system to provide tutoring or educational services for private gain or use work time or resources to advertise their services.
C. Staff members shall not directly or indirectly contract with parents of students they currently serve in their role as an FCPS employee.
D. Staff members shall not provide tutoring or educational services for private gain during their contracted workday with Frederick County Public Schools.
E. Any exceptions to this policy must be approved by the appropriate associate superintendent.
