Happy Wednesday!
As we wade further into May and are just a month out from the end of the school year, we have one last big item (in addition to "the move") and that is...the auction. As I mentioned, we are doing an online auction this year. Thanks to Sarah, Gina, Naomi, and the whole crew, we are excited to launch this big, new event. The Silent Auction will be held from May 27 - 29 and then the big, live auction will be held on May 30th from 5 pm - 8 pm. We absolutely need everyone to take part in this and to encourage friends and families from all over the world to take part, as well. Our goal is to raise at least $50,000 and we need your help to do this! I know that we can because I have seen the generosity and support at play in recent weeks. Thanks to our amazing community, over $1200 of gift cards were dropped off at the school and I had the incredible opportunity to package them up with special cards of love and drop them off for struggling families in our community in recent days. It was wonderful having the opportunity to get your love and support out to those who are in real need in our school family, especially for those who do not have access to government assistance. Thank you for your love and generosity and for blessing others. These families send their love and appreciation! Please take one more step for our community and help our little school during a very difficult time. Please sign up for the auction and take part...and ask family and friends (through social media, texts, phone calls, etc.) to do so, as well. Here is the info:

One last big item, we will be at the school campus on Friday (May 15th) from 8 am - 12 pm and Monday (May 18th) from 12 pm - 4 pm for Pre-K 3 and 4, and Kindergarten Superkids drop off and pick up. Please stop by to get packets from Ms. Wendy, Ms. Patty, and Mrs. Farias. Also, if you just need to get out of the house and want to visit us, drive through and say hi (with the kids in the car). We would love to see you from the usual safe distance. Again, we will do drive through only and will be wearing masks to keep all of you and our staff safe. People are welcome to drop off uniforms that will no longer be used on these days and we will be taking payments, too. Please make sure to read through the entire newsletter...it has a lot of important info. Stay safe, stay health, and have a wonderful week.
Blessings,
Katie Dempsey
Meet our New 1st Grade Teacher for 2020-21
My name is Madison Miller. I am thrilled to be joining the Holy Rosary Bilingual Academy family. I was raised in Billings, Montana, then moved to Missoula, Montana to earn my Elementary Education degree at the University of Montana. During my freshman year, I was lucky enough to go on a mission trip to Antigua, Guatemala, where I fell in love with the Spanish language and working with kids. After this experience, I started working at a crisis shelter for children called Watson Children’s Shelter, which was an incredible learning experience. Once I graduated with my degree in December 2019, I began to teach at Head Start in Missoula, while still working at the children’s shelter on the weekends. I have a big, black lab named Clyde, and we enjoy hiking, swimming, and going for long walks on the beach. We are very excited for our new adventures in Washington. I feel extremely blessed to be teaching here at Holy Rosary, and I am really looking forward to the amazing year we are going to have.
New Computers for Next Year...Thank You, Fulcrum!
A big thank you to the Fulcrum Foundation for their grant which allowed us (this week) to purchase 100 brand new Chromebooks for students in grades 1 - 8 for the 2020-21 school year. Students in K and Pre-K will have full access to the Ipads. Fulcrum has also worked with the Frost and Margaret Snyder Foundation to help us purchase brand new laptops (and all necessary supportive software and hardware) for the teachers for next year. This is fantastic and will allow us to do so much more with this incredible new technology. The Fulcrum Foundation also provided us a grant this past school year to buy 8 brand new interactive white boards and the new teacher computers will work flawlessly to provide the most incredible instructional opportunities for our kids. Giving our kids and our staff greater access to the most up-to-date technology, along with a dynamic bilingual program means that we are doing everything we can to prepare our children for the best and brightest possible future in a global society.
Looking for Something Fun to do with the Kids??
We are looking for fun ways to decorate our new Fife campus. We need your help. As you can see from the picture below, the new campus needs a little color and some love from the kids. We want you to decorate (paint) rocks that we can use to add color to the front area of the campus. We want it to be a beautiful, warm, kid-friendly, welcoming entry area. If you have a chance to decorate rocks and want to drop them off at the new campus, just bring them by and add them to the space anytime. If they are done by this Friday or next Monday, you can also drop them off when we are at the Tacoma campus (Friday from 8 - 12 and Monday from 12 - 4) and we will bring them to the Fife campus. Your child can even "sign" their rock to put their personal "stamp" on their new campus. We can't wait to see the creativity from our amazing kiddos!

There are tons of great items available so please register and take a peek. Our event has a $50,000 goal which provides important dollars to our budget and it is more important than ever this year, since tuition revenue and other fees are down for the school. We are trying an online auction for the first time and are very excited about it, and we hope that you are too. Any questions, please email: smckinney@holyrosarybilingual.org
