Team Bullard

Here's what's happening in the huddle...

Last week we read The Ugliest Dog in the World by Bruce Whatley. We focused on the following skills:

  • visualization
  • figurative language - metaphors
  • appropriate pacing when reading

Did you know April is Poetry month? Well, the kids in room 5 are learning about many different kinds of poems. We can't wait to share them with you once we develop our collections!

We continued working in unit 8 learning about:

  • place value: 100s, 10s, 1s
  • making and solving number stories
  • making change
  • dividing wholes into equal shares

We began our study of the various groups of animals. Last week we learned the characteristics of mammals and birds. It's interesting to see how the two are alike and different.

All of Gayman's first graders will put on a play called Rumpus in the Rainforest at 9:30am on June 13th for parents and family members. We are in the beginning stages of our practices and can't wait to pick our parts. Watch for more exciting news about this show!
