The APHS Look AHEAD- 21-22
Dear APHS students and families,
We have reached the month of June! This is always an exciting time in schools, as we begin to wind down, take stock in all that we have learned and achieved, and celebrate those accomplishments together as a community. As we do that, with about 9 days of instruction left, and then many days of Regents Exams, it is important to keep a solid focus on finishing strong. We have to work hard, right until the very end.
This is also a month that can be very stressful for students, their families, and our staff. As we "rush" to get to the finish line, there is always an elevation in anxiety, stress, and pressure. This is a great time to remember to take one thing at a time, be present in the moment, and leave enough time for balance in life. We can't all work 24/7, and if we do, we often are too thinly stretched to do what we are doing with any level of quality.
With all of this in mind, I share this calendar of daily activity that you can do to make June and JOYFUL JUNE! https://actionforhappiness.org/sites/default/files/Jun%202022.pdf
My congratulation to everyone as we finish up what has been a very successful year at APHS. It is always a pleasure to work with such a positive, invested, and caring community. I look forward to seeing many of you at some of our well-deserved student celebrations in the weeks to come, culminating of course with the Commencement Ceremony for the APHS Class of 2022 on Thursday, June 23rd at 6:30 pm at the MVP Arena in Albany.
If there is anything that you need in the upcoming weeks, please do not hesitate to connect with us.
Stay healthy, and be well!
Serving every student every day,
Mr. Heath Quiles
High School Principal (quilesh@apcsd.org)

Senior Awards Night - June 7, 2022
Senior Awards Night is quickly approaching, and will take place at 6:00pm on June 7th in the High School Auditorium.
If you received a letter letting you know that your senior is receiving an award, please make sure to confirm with Kelly Stone at stonek@apcsd.org if your senior cannot attend. There will be a lot of community members presenting the awards/scholarships that night and it's important for seniors to show up to receive these awards.
Students are not required to attend, but it's very helpful to know if a student cannot make it. Thank you in advance and we look forward to a very special evening for our seniors!
For those of you who cannot attend the ceremony and would like to watch a live stream video, please see the link below:
Current Sophomore and Seniors need to turn in Chromebooks and Chargers at year-end
As we wrap up the school year, we want to make sure that all students who need to return Chromebooks and their associated chargers are aware of the procedures and expectations for doing so.
This year, all current seniors and sophomores will need to turn in their Chromebooks and chargers prior to the end of the school year. Sophomores will receive an updated device at the opening of next year.
If you know that you will not be returning to APHS next year, you should turn in your device as well.
These items may be turned in at the APHS APPS Suite, located in the Mezzanine of the HS Library, at any time between June 10th and June 21st. Please be sure to plan to turn these items in AFTER you have completed all assignments and/or exams which might require their use for preparation.
Seniors should keep in mind that devices must be turned in in order to participate in graduation.
During the week of June 27th bills will be generated and mailed for any devices not collected.
If you have any questions, please contact the HS Main Office at 674-7002.

Careers in Trades, Medical and Engineering
Careers in Trades, Medical and Engineering - All exciting opportunities!
Many students continue to struggle to find resources for information on pursuing careers that might not be the traditional college path or have paid internships.
I have collected a lot of information for the past few years that may be helpful. I have also met many business owners in the capital region and might be able to help students make some connections.
If you want some help, please take the time to send me a quick email describing what you are interested in and I may be able to recommend programs or set up an introduction.
I am a high school health teacher but also have a huge interest in helping with career information. Email me, Olga Ashline at ashlineo@apcsd.org for some ideas.
Bring Back Your Library Books!
Don't be a victim of the "Summer Slide"!
If you would like to check out some books over the summer, please feel free to do so!
Speaking of Library Books... all current check-outs are due back to the library by JUNE 1!
If you need to keep them over the summer, please let Mrs. Yost, the HS Librarian, know.
Complementary Guest Wifi Available After Hours at APHS
Have you ever found yourself in a zone with no coverage while on the APHS campus? It's not as uncommon as you may think!
APHS has a complementary, non-password secured "AP Guest Wifi'' which activates each afternoon at 3 pm, and stays on throughout the evening!
Next time you are out in the parking lot waiting for your child, or even if you are attending an event, search for this account on your device and try joining it.
Once you are on this account, your text messages should work well, and previous connectivity issues should be resolved, regardless of weak cell service.
