JapanFest - Sep.19-20, 2015
Good News!
We received free tickets from the JapanFest committee as a result of the donations made by Georgia's American and Japanese companies, which help educate K12 students in Georgia.
A number of students have already requested, but I still have some. So here is what you need to do to receive.
1. Email me that you would like to receive a free E-ticket. (1 per student).
2. Print out a E-ticket to attend JapanFest on Sep.19 or 20, 2015.
3. Participate in Discussion: JapanFest 2015, and report and reflect on the things you experienced at the festival after the event.
It is "first come first serve" base so once enough students email me, I will not be able to give you any more. So if you are planning to attend, or want to attend, email me ASAP.

Speaking and Listening Assessments
Among your discussion topics, you will see (S+L) which stands for Speaking and Listening assessments. You are expected to type in roomaji, or Japanese, and record your initial post in Japanese. You also need to leave at least 2 replies to your classmates in Japanese in recording. I have to be able to hear your recording for you to receive any grades on S+L Assessments.
Here are some options for recording.
- Option 1 : Use "Record Audio" in the course Click Here for instruction
- Option 2: Use Audacity Click Here to Download
- Option 3: Use Microsoft Power Point
- Option 4: Use your smart phone
Late Work Policy and Re-submission Policy
GaVS Late Work Policy
The late policy will NOT be changed to accommodate the Labor Day holiday.
Late penalties will be applied as follows:
- Friday through Sunday at midnight -10% deduction
- Monday at midnight - 20% deduction
- Tuesday at midnight - 30% deduction
- After Tuesday at midnight - Grade will be a 0.
There will be no extension granted except for a few circumstances described in Student Handbook such as prolonged illness that required hospitalizations and/or doctor's visit.
My Personal Re-submission Policy
Often I give my students opportunities to re-submit their work to encourage self-corrections as learning process. Here are my personal re-submission guidelines. These apply mainly to Reading and Writing Assignments, Projects, and sometimes Speaking and Listening Assessments.
1. if you submitted assignments early and didn't make a desirable score, you can re-submit by the due dates for up to 100%.
2. if you submitted assignments early and and didn't make a desirable score, but didn't re-submit by the due dates, deduction will be taken according to the policy. (i.e. you made 70% on the first submission, and re-submitted by the following Sunday, you can get up to 90%. )
3. if you submitted assignments by the due dates and didn't make a desirable score so you re-submitted, the deduction will be taken according to the policy. (i.e. if you made 70% on the first submission, and re-submitted by the following Sunday, you can get up to 90%. )
4. if you submitted assignments late, no re-submission opportunity will be given.
I hope this makes sense to you.
