School Announcements & Updates
Conferences
Please update the google sheet regularly to indicate confirmed parent teacher conferences.
Grade Files
Grade files close 11/10/2017 at 6 pm for teachers. All grades must be entered by then. All students scoring a 1 or 4 must have comments. Please upload comments to schoology that you and your/team will be using. The office will print report cards to be distributed at Parent Teacher Conferences.
Gloves, Hats, Scarves
As winter approaches, please let Ms. Griffith know of any clothing/outerwear needs students/families might have.
Science Night
We are having a Science Night with Elizabethtown Kappa Delta Pi students, on Thursday, November 16th from 5-7 p.m. They are bringing 10 experiments to share with our students. The format will be similar to Math Night, in that students and families will move freely around the Gym to participate in experiments. We would like to have some students also lead and share experiments. The experiments should be simple, and not take too long. Students should create a display and/or prepare the materials to go along with the experiment and be prepared to lead the experiment during Science Night. It would be helpful to have a small group of students work together, so they can take turns leading the experiment, but also have time to walk around and participate in other experiments. We will also have sample STEM Fair boards and STEM Fair information for families. If you have additional questions, please contact Mrs. Gantz.
Chili Cook-off
The chili cook-off is THIS WEDNESDAY! If you didn't sign up yet, there is still time. We'll be accepting sign ups for chili entries until end of school day Tuesday. Please sign up at https://goo.gl/Vca4Gi. Sign up here to bring the "extras" also.
GOTR
Over half of our GOTR team still needs running buddies for the final 5K race at Millersville University THIS SATURDAY, November 11th. Every girl needs to have a running buddy in order to race. If you are available this Saturday, we know one of the girls would love to have you as a running buddy.
Please see the list of girls at https://goo.gl/NzT3TL of who needs a buddy and put your name next to one of the girls. THEN go to https://goo.gl/qVZXGz and officially sign up for the race. If you have any questions, please ask Christine, Jaclyn, or Nate. We thank you all for your support!

DISTRICT ANNOUNCEMENTS & UPDATES
ACCESS Window
Please note that the ACCESS window has been shortened by PDE. The window will now run from January 22- February 23. This eliminates two weeks of possible testing time. Technology will be a necessary component to consider along with the other benchmark assessments at this time of year.
Support Staff Professional Development Day
Our next Support Staff Professional Development Day will be held on Tuesday, November 7, 2017. Once again, the training will take place at E. R. Martin School; however, this session will be in a different format than the event held on August 23. With over 450 staff members participating, we felt it was easiest to divide into 3 separate groups according to the first initial of your last name. For example, Jane Doe would be in Group 1 and would only need to follow the training in the column below. Please refer to the agenda for your particular schedule. Due to the large number of participants and limited parking, we highly recommend that you carpool. Oak Leaf Nursing Home (directly across the street from Martin on Wabank Road) is allowing us to use their parking lot. Don’t forget to sign-in to ensure you get credit for your hours. All attendees need to participate for the entire day. See the Support Staff PD Agenda for the schedule.
