2022 Teacher Leader Invitational
Social Emotional Learning and Effective Literacy Instruction
Kara and I hope that this email finds you all hitting your stride in the classroom after those first, few grueling weeks of school. We've also found that we've been enjoying this slow return to normalcy in teaching and learning, and are excited to re-connect with you all in person for our fall CRLP Teacher Leadership Invitational. This year we are trying something new and are looking to implement a hybrid in-person/virtual model. With this in mind, the first session on October 12 will be in-person here at Cal. As we used to do, (pre-pandemic) we will provide a wonderful dinner, along with treats and prizes for you all.
The theme of this year's TL Invitational is Integrating Social Emotional Learning and Effective Literacy Instruction. We will explore the intersection of evidence-based reading intervention routines along with proactive behavior supports for our most vulnerable students.
This year our collaboration will feature some of our nation's leading researchers and thought leaders in literacy instruction, including Jeff Zwiers (Stanford University), Garrett Roberts (University of Denver) and Michael Solís (UC Riverside). The Teacher Leadership Invitational is also an opportunity to engage in rich discourse around current hot topics in literacy instruction with like-minded educators from across the Bay Area. You will receive a wonderful dinner, as well as free books and raffle prizes!
Our Three-Session Learning Series will include the following topics:
- Integrating Behavior Supports into Structured Literacy Intervention
- Motivation, Engagement, and Authentic Communication
- Reading Intervention for Upper Elementary Students
As always, please forward this flyer to any potential Teacher Leaders you may know.
Cheers,
George & Kara
