Caruso Connect - January 27th
Caruso Middle School is an inclusive and vibrant community where Blue Jays take ownership of their social-emotional and academic growth by supporting, challenging, and celebrating self and others.
Good Evening Blue Jay Families:
We hope that you were able to view your student's Q2 progress reports. If you have any questions about your student's progress please reach out to your student's teachers.
We would like to remind you to be cognizant about not sending your student to school with ANY form of medication, prescribed or OTC. If your student requires medication on a regular basis, the district protocol and current state law is for your child's doctor to email/fax over a form to our school nurse detailing the medical necessity. If your student forgets to take a daily medication or needs OTC meds for a headache, please contact the nurse or the front office prior to coming to the school with the medication. We will be happy to call your student down to the office to take the medication in your presence. Thank you for adhering to our district medication policy. We want to continue to ensure the safety of all of our students.
Please read on to see who our Blue Jays of the Week are!
Enjoy your weekend!

Pack the Pantry
DHS School Chest is looking to get your help to pack the pantry for those in need. They are looking for food and household essentials in the list attached below.
If you decide to donate some of these items, you can put them into the bin in the front entrance of Caruso.
The last day we will be collecting these items is Tuesday, February the 14th.
Unfortunately due to limited space, we cannot collect canned food.
Sincerely,

Deerfield Parent Network
(Communicated 1/13/23)
Deerfield Parent Network provides informative programming for families about topics impacting our students and community.
Join us January 31st at 7:30 pm in the DHS cafe for a BRAND NEW program,”Gambling & Teens: Is My Child at Risk?” DPN is partnering with Nicasa Behavioral Health for a presentation about the risks of Teen Gambling and how to spot issues with your own pre-teen/teen.
This is a relevant topic in the Deerfield Community. Middle School and High School students in Deerfield are gambling with friends, betting with Bookies and using on-line betting platforms to place sports bets. Know the signs and how to prevent problems.
We welcome parents of middle school and high school students from any community in the Northshore who would like to attend this informative presentation!
DPN is able to provide our programming through donations. Please consider making a donation to help us continue to provide these valuable resources to our community. Donate Here

SEL Survey
(Communicated 1/13/23)
Building students’ social-emotional learning (SEL) skills is important at Caruso Middle School As a part of the learning process, we ask our students to reflect on skills related to their own SEL and the school environment using a Panorama student survey. This survey will be administered between January 30th and February 10th. Per policy, if you would like your child to opt out of taking the survey, please contact Tim Brodeur (tbrodeur@dps109.org) no later than January 27th.
