Week 7: October 7 - 11
A Message from Mireles
Student Agenda/ Planner
The realization of how quickly a week can go by, how busy their lives are once they get home, and how many days they have until the next test, project or game, can be completely foreign for kids.
A student agenda may not solve all the problems in their world, but it is definitely a start. Sometimes the only organized chaos they see is in school.
So what can we do?
- Be sure your whiteboard lists, days and dates clearly.
- Be sure what you write is understandable to many, not just you.
- Be sure your words are legible and large enough to see across the classroom.
- Go over it with them, don't assume they know what to do.
- Make it an expectation that they are using a planner/agenda of some sort. Talk to them about its importance. Use your own experiences to enhance their learning.
- "Book-end your lessons"-- go over what kids will learn and do at the beginning and end of each lesson. It's quick and so worth the effort. Kids need it & deserve it.

From our PTA,
Hello Fellow Patriots,
We are excited to announce the 2019-2020 Patriot Games
Last year we raised just over $11,000 thanks to the generosity of community supporters. This year we hope to raise $15,000 to further support the academic advancement, cultural enhancement and leadership development of the children and youth in our community.

PTA PALS
Our wonderful PTA is starting up a copy PALS (Parent Assisted Learning Support) program. A group of our PTA Volunteers will be here weekly on Thursday mornings beginning this week.
If you are interested in having your copies made and delivered to your front office mailbox, please complete the attached PALS copy request form and place your originals in the PALS Copy Bin (blue container, picture attached) in the downstairs workroom by Wednesday evening or first thing Thursday morning.
The PTA is excited to see how this program will benefit our campus and hope that it gives you some valuable time back and helps lighten your workload.
PALS copy request forms can also be found in the Copy Bin in the downstairs workroom.
Please considering joining our PTA!!
Just to name a few things:
They remodeled our downstairs lounge.
PTA completely runs Patriot Games and then uses the funds for Teacher grants and campus initiatives.
They support the Patriot Pantry
They volunteer for all sorts of events.
They raise money for guest speakers.
etc. etc.
Congratulations Billie Smith!
Thank you!
- Thank you, Kim Villarreal, for creating a novel check out sheet for teachers and permission slip for our ELA students so that we are teaching our students to be mindful and respectful to materials and resources provided to them. ~Michelle Bunn
- Thank you, Joy Magatagan, for being such a huge help counting all of our fundraising money! You helped me tremendously that day and I would not have gotten out of here before midnight, had it not been for you. Thank you, teachers, for doing the initial fundraising count. Your efforts were very much appreciated! In addition, thank you to Chip Chipoli (always a Patriot!) and our PTA Moms who gave their time Friday morning to be our second counters! ~Lori Tarbell
