Principal's Corner
Dear Lake Forest Community High School,
I hope this newsletter finds you well and enjoying this beautiful weather that we've been experiencing lately! As we continue through the weekend to enjoy the sunshine and warmth, I am holding out for a breathtaking prom for our students–they so deserve it!
Ms. Dreiling and Ms. Horan’s students have recently completed a fantastic project that not only showcased their creativity and writing skills, but also allowed them to give back to our youngest learners in the Little Scouts Pre-K program. The students worked diligently to create and illustrate their own storybooks tailored specifically for their Little Scout! This project aimed at fostering a love for reading and encouraging our younger students to embrace the joys of literature–but it also created an opportunity for our big Scouts to give back to the community–a win-win all the way around!
Students visited the Little Scouts classrooms to personally present their books and read their stories aloud. It was truly heartwarming to see the excitement and curiosity on the faces of the littles as they listened to stories that were specifically tailored to them–with many of the stories featuring the Little Scout as the main character, hero, or heroine. I am incredibly proud of our English students for their hard work, and I know that their efforts will have a lasting impact on the Pre-K students.
We recently held Senior Nights for both the softball and soccer teams, and it was a wonderful celebration of our graduating athletes. The events were filled with emotion as coaches, teammates, and families gathered to recognize and honor the seniors for their dedication, hard work, and perseverance throughout their high school athletic careers. We have more Senior Nights in the line up next week! It is THAT time of year!
Next week is Staff Appreciation Week! If you haven’t thanked a staff member recently, it is always wonderful to hear or read a compliment or note of gratitude from our community. Thank you, in advance, to the APT for the fun week ahead!
As always, I am grateful for the hard work, dedication, and passion demonstrated by our students, teachers, and staff at Lake Forest High School. I look forward to sharing more exciting news and achievements with you as we move through the remainder of the school year.
Warm regards (although Mother Nature is coming through for us this weekend),
Erin
