Happy New Year!
Thank you Meadow Drive!
Thank you Meadow Drive families for the incredible show of generosity this past season! From the incredible toys for the Winthrop Hospital Toy Drive, to the mitten gift cards for our families in need, to the 200+ pajamas we collected for Ronald McDonald house, we were blown away by the spirit of giving.
Thank you to our generous PTA for the wonderful assemblies we had in December:
- Hannah Gavios came to visit and shared her story of resilience with the 2nd grade. Although injured in an accident, she "crutched" the NYC marathon twice! She spoke about the power of community and a growth mindset when it comes to achieving your dreams.
- BackTrack Vocals taught us about a capella, serenaded us, and then, taught us how to beatbox!
Finally, thank you all for coming to celebrate with us in the two days before the break. There was joy in every classroom with our holiday parties and celebrations. And it was my first experience hearing, seeing and singing along at these incredible Holiday Sing Alongs. What a treat!

After School Clubs
Does your child like art, sports, building with LEGOs, playing chess, or practicing taekwondo or dance? If so, then we've got an after school club for you!
Whether you register online or pay by check, please send in your paper flyer so that our front office has record and knows where to send your child at dismissal.
All students must be registered BEFORE THE FIRST CLASS. No late enrollment will be accepted.
If you need a flyer, copies are on the homepage of the PTA website: www.meadowdrivepta.com
Valentines for Vets!
What better way to show our appreciation for the sacrifices that our veterans have made for us than to send a valentine or donate a new item that a veteran can use?
In coordination with Assemblyman Anthony D’Urso’s annual Valentines for Vets Program Meadow Drive is collecting Valentines to send to hospitalized veterans to show that they are appreciated and have not been forgotten.
Last year Assemblyman D’Urso delivered two truckloads of handmade valentines and gifts to the New York State Veterans Home in Stony Brook and the Northport Veterans Administration Medical Center.
Suggested items include handmade valentines, non-slip socks, winter hats, gloves, scarves, sweatpants, sweatshirts, electric toothbrushes, electric razors, gift cards, DVD’s, CDs and toiletries.
Donations have to be delivered to my office by Monday, January 27.
