COUNSELORS CORNER

Did you know??? November's Coyote Care subject is Depression. 50% of students with mental health concerns don't get the help they need, often because they don't know how to ask. If your teen has had a change in eating or sleeping habits, is no longer interested in things they used to love, have let relationships go, or seem "off" it might be more than stereotypical teenage behavior...they might actually be depressed! Need help? This TED talk gives some great information on the teenage brain: https://www.ted.com/talks/roselinde_kaiser_ph_d_teen_brains_are_not_broken

Did you know??? The ASVAB is a test administered by the military that gives students' and idea of their specific strengths in several areas. We take this information and work with our students to help them as they focus on their post-secondary options. Seniors took the ASVAB this week and we are excited to get their scores and work with them to explore the possibilities! Be sure to ask your student to tell you when they get their scores, and what they learned.

"In alignment with the 11/4/21 parent university Teen Lifeline presentation, Teen Lifeline will be presenting to our 9th grade English classes on 11/10/21. This will be a virtual presentation about their services. If you would like to opt your child out of viewing the presentation, please contact school social worker Jessica Doty at 480-882-3540 ext 7524 or jdoty@jocombs.org for an opt out form."
