MAFEPD News
MS Association of Federal Education Program Directors
Letter from the President
Dear Colleagues,
It is an honor to serve as the MAFEPD president for 2018-19. My fellow board members and I are working hard to bring you a 2019 summer conference that will make a difference in your professional experiences every day.
As MAFEPD members you are also NAFEPA members. Please take advantage of the NAFPA Connection that you receive each month. It is filled with great information about what is going on at the USDE and on Capitol Hill concerning a wide array of topics that affects what we do in our districts.
After the Christmas break, we will be releasing all the information for our 2019 summer conference. As a reminder, the dates are June 25th through 28th in Jackson. We will also be releasing the "Call for Proposals" for concurrent sessions. The board encourages districts to submit proposals to share the great things you are doing in your districts.
Please have a safe and happy holiday season!
Sincerely,
Frank Catchings, Ph.D.
MAFEPD President
Leadership Award Nominations
Are there directors dedicated and committed to serving students and educational programs in our state and most importantly advocating for education? If so, consider recognizing them with the NAFEPA State Leadership Award. Please participate in the survey and nominate up to 5 Federal Program Directors who have assumed significant roles in the support and promotion of activities and goals of MAFEPD and NAFEPA .
An individual may receive the State Leadership Award only once in a ten year period. Please click the link below to begin voting. Voting will close on Friday, January 4th.
Scholarship Opportunity
We are excited to offer scholarship opportunities to graduating seniors in your district. Because the state winner will move on to represent the state at the national level, scholarships are only available to students in districts who have current members in NAFEPA.
The deadline for students to submit their application is January 11th. Click the link below to access the 2018-2019 application.
