PES Honors Our Veterans

PES and our sister school, Cary Woods Elementary School, would like to honor Veterans of our Pick and Cary Woods Families by inviting them to be guests of honor in our Veterans Day Parade on Thursday, November 10th at 8:00am.

Veterans will form a carline parade and drive through both school campuses for our students to celebrate and honor them.

  • ALL Veteran Parade participants will line up at CWES at 8:00 am to begin.
  • Cary Woods Elementary School is located at 715 Sanders Street, Auburn, AL.
  • Please have Veterans sit on the passenger side of the car if they are not driving alone.
  • Parade participants will be escorted by our School Resource Officers.
  • After they travel through the Cary Woods campus, they will proceed directly to PES where our Pick students will be waiting to celebrate and greet them.
  • Pick Elementary School is located at 1320 North College Street.

We extend our most sincere THANKS to all of our Pick Family members and their family and friends that serve our country. We look forward to honoring you on November 10th at 8:00am!

Congratulations to Ms. Brittany Bryant, our PES Teacher of the Year!

It is with tremendous Pick Pride that our village on the hill celebrates Ms. Brittany Bryant as our 2022 PES Teacher of the Year! Ms. Bryant teaches 5th Grade math and science classes. She began her teaching career in ACS, and she has 14 years of experience.

Ms. Bryant’s classroom is steadily filled with highly engaged learners, active participants, intentional connections, and an abundance of love! Congratulations to our Leaders of Quarter and team Be Proactive!

We held our 1st nine weeks Leaders of the Quarter celebrations! At the end of each quarter, students nominate two peers from their homeroom to be the Leader of the Quarter. Nominations are written to include specific examples that were observed of the nominee displaying Pick PRIDE characteristics and examples of the 7 Habits.

Team Be Proactive was the winner of October's Pick Pop Party! These students earned the most points during the month of October for displaying characteristics of Pick pride and leadership!

5th Grade Literature Fun

During the month of October, PES 5th graders engaged in a literature unit on Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone. The entire 5th grade team was sorted into houses to compete for team points. During our Harry Potter week finale, the Gryffindor team members were the proud winners of the Quidditch tournament with Coach Cooper, while Slytherin team members took the victory for overall house points! A favorite moment of the week was when the students came together in the transformed hallway to enjoy the final chapter by candlelight! Thank you so much to our 5th grade teaching team and resource teachers' support for this magical learning celebration!
