News from Mrs. Drudy's Class
We exist so children can excel.
The Week at a Glance
Due to the shortened week next week, we will not be introducing new reading stories, nor will we have a new spelling list. By the way things are stacking up, we're going to be plenty busy without them.
Red Ribbon Week
As we continue Red Ribbon Week, we have one more dress-up day, and that is on Halloween.
Wednesday, Oct. 31- Say "Boo" to Bullying and Drugs!
Everyone wear (school appropriate) Halloween costumes
Halloween Parade
As you know, LES will be having their annual Halloween parade on Wednesday, October 31. Remember...no fake blood, no weapons, and no p**p emoji costumes, please! Also on this day, we'll be having a special snack. Thankfully, we are able to put our school wellness policy on hold for this fun day. If you volunteered to send in a special snack, confirmation was sent in last week's folder. If you did not receive a confirmation, then you are "off the hook" for this particular day. Parents are welcome to view the parade, but we ask that you do so either in the auxiliary gym, or on the playground. Thank you for your participation in these memorable days for us.
Share Topic
There will be no share topic next week due to the shortened week. However, the topic for the week of October 29 is as follows:
Design A Mask: Make your own mask. Will it be a funny face or a scary one? Is it a character from your favorite book or cartoon? How did you make it? Be prepared to tell us, in logical order, how you did it.
Parent Teacher Conferences
I am so looking forward to meeting with you on either Monday or Tuesday of next week to discuss your child's progress. Believe me, each and every student has shown progress. It's like we always say, though, "As good as we are, we can always get better!"
Amazing Art
Speaking of parent teacher conferences... during this time, Mrs. Bartos is planning a ceramics art display of student work from those in 2nd - 5th grade. This will be set up by the office on Monday and Tuesday of next week. 5th grade has created bobble head cats or dogs, 4th grade has created superhero cars, 3rd grade has created hanging name plates, and our students have created lovely clay leaves. There is also some artwork throughout each of the buildings from kindergartners and first graders. Take some time to enjoy your young artist's amazing work.
Library
Since we will not be in school on Wednesday, Mrs. Grissom has invited us to come in and exchange books on Tuesday. Please remind your child to come prepared to do this. Unfortunately, our responsibility with book returns is waning. Too many students forgot their books this week.
