McNear Elementary
2021-2022 Registration Update
McNear Elementary is a collaborative community that inspires students to
reach high academic standards and become mindful, active contributors
locally and globally in our ever-changing world.
A Note From Principal Eichert
I am so grateful to be a part of the McNear learning community and am excited to share this special school with you as you embark on your first elementary experiences with your children. McNear is the perfect small community school with a lot going on. As our mission states we truly work to develop an inclusive and safe learning environment where meaningful authentic experiences take place. McNear seeks to support the whole child through a well-balanced approach, cultivating creative and critical thinkers in the arts, math and sciences. With our McNear Arts and Sciences Maker's Space as a hub, arts and sciences are interwoven as a launching pad for integrated and applied learning. When families visit McNear they are always struck by the beautiful park like setting of our campus as well as the supportive community where students, teachers and families mindfully communicate, collaborate, take risks and express joy.
From back to school barbecues to creek restoration to kindness campaigns, plays and robotics teams there are many ways for your child to grow, learn, celebrate and participate in place based learning. Teachers and staff are ongoing learners themselves studying the latest mindfulness and empathy programs, technology applications, science curriculum adoptions and arts integration with awareness that social and emotional learning goes hand in hand with academic success. Facing all the challenges of distance learning, has had many silver linings of new ways to connect, teach, create community, innovate, evaluate and understand student strengths and student needs. From staff to teachers to students and families, everyone is here to support one another through all the stages, difficulties and opportunities that life throws at us. From this first decision about choosing a school that is a right fit for your child and your family to questions about reading development, homework hassles and the like I am available and eager to help with twenty years experience teaching grades K-8 as well as navigating life and school with my own son.
Please join one of our principal question and answer sessions or full panel presentations in the coming weeks and months to learn more about the amazing teaching and learning happening at McNear Elementary. Additionally, I can be reached at Leichert@petk12.org or 707-239-3753 to answer any questions you may have along the way.
Looking forward to meeting you soon!
Well wishes,
Liza Eichert
From Our PTA
Greetings Prospective McNear Falcons,
On behalf of the PTA Board, members and the whole school community, we’d like to welcome you to the McNear Family! As we navigate the 2020 pandemic and distance learning, our community is more important than ever before. In this unprecedented time, our McNear family has never been stronger. Many at McNear have donated their time to make sure all students have access to the same opportunities. Through the parent-led program TIDE (Team for Inclusivity, Diversity and Equity) and our PTA-funded student advisor position,
we have worked hard to identify students in need, and to connect them with resources. PTA funds have also paid for distance-learning supplies, chosen directly by teachers for their students.
This year we postponed a few of our fun campus events due to social distance guidelines. But once conditions are safe, we will reconnect with our favorite events like the Welcome Back BBQ, the Harvest Festival, Elder’s Day and many others. We are eager to see everyone in person again! When students are on campus, we connect through social events, fundraisers and several key programs, such as the $30,000 McNear Art and Science Center, which the PTA fully funded in 2016, to bring rich STEM curriculum to all grades. The PTA also provides books for the library, field trip subsidies, after school enrichment, a vibrant performing arts program, underwriting of all costs related to the incredible garden curriculum and ongoing support to all teachers.
As a parent of two McNear falcons, I hope you chose us as your new home. It is a wonderful place for a child to start their early years of learning and growth. Welcome!
Sincerely,
Susan

Virtual Tours And Events Coming Up
Typically, this is "tour season" at McNear with lots of energy and excitement, sixth graders walking you through campus and much more. However, due to the current pandemic, we will not be holding our usual school tours. Instead, we will be hosting many virtual events for families to learn about our school. Please join Principal Eichert at one of our weekly question and conversation sessions or the whole team on January 27th at 6pm/February 10th at 10am when you'll hear from our principal, teachers, staff and even students. Nothing replaces an in-person tour where you can see learning in action, but we are confident you will get to know our school community a little better after attending a virtual info session!
