Parent Survey Deadline February 26th
Hello Champion Families,
I hope you all had a great week and are enjoying the beautiful Arizona winter weather this weekend. Conditions continue to improve and active cases remained at 0 for the fourth consecutive week now. One important request, please complete the parent survey, After the last two weeks, I still had very responses which prompted my email on Friday. After this year, we know how important the parent school relationship is and we want to continue the excellence that Carlson is known for. To do this we need to know how we are doing and where we can grow. So, please click on the link Growing Carlson to access the survey; it shouldn't take more than a minute or two. Thank you for doing this, we really appreciate it.
Overall, last week was fairly quiet and routine and its been quite sometime that we could say that. We finished up hearing screening for grades 1, 3, and 5, practiced our monthly fire drill, and announced the winning projects selected to participate in the Chandler Innovation Fair. A big thank you to our 6th Grade Science teachers Mrs. Goldberg and Mrs. Bruder for all their hard work supporting students in the Science Fair. We would also like to acknowledge all of our students that completed a project this year. We know how much time and energy was spent on these experiments. And to our CIF coordinators, Mrs. Ruddle and Mrs. Conner, thank you for your leadership and guidance throughout this entire process. Carlson is well represented and we want to wish all of those entered in the district competition the best of luck and no matter the result we are so proud of you. (See pics and CIF website link below)
Coming up this week, the online (virtual) Scholastic Book Fair starts tomorrow and runs through March 7th. Also, Yearbook Club has a meeting on Tuesday after school in Mrs. Ferber's room. Thank you to all our sponsors and members working hard to put together the yearbook. And on Wednesday we are wearing Pink to support Anti-Bullying awareness on National Pink Shirt Day. See Mrs. Thelen's flyer below for more information. And we will end the week recognizing our student's of the month that demonstrated the character trait of Fairness. Students will receive a certificate of recognition and a treat curtesy of our PTO and your generous donations. Also, Friday afternoon PTO will be handing out Sweet Treats. This week students will get a tub of cotton candy and a gatorade. If you didn't purchase a season pass you can send $4.00 with your student(s) on Friday. That should do it for this upcoming week and just a heads up that there is only three weeks left in 3rd quarter and that we only have a one week intersession due to the postponed start to the school year. The last day for students is Friday March 12th and they return on Tuesday, March 23rd. And just a heads up that we will be moving forward with state testing. This year students will be taking the AZM2 (formerly known as AZMerit) during the week of April 5th. This will be a paper pencil test for all students in grades 3 - 6. Please be sure to schedule any appointments around this week. More info will be coming but we wanted to give you advanced notice so you can try and block those dates off on your calendar. Again thank you for the continued support this year. I hope you all are staying well and have a wonderful week!
Gratefully,
Mr. Morgan
